food was average, drinks were great, waitress was terrific, no air conditioning it was 81 degrees inside or 91 outside. not an enjoyable experience. go when it is cooler
I tried Stella last week for the first time last Friday. The waitress was great and attentive. The location of the place is on the edge of a nice neighborhood and the inside has lots of windows that let light in. Very plain looking inside. The burger I had was just average. The fries are the worst fries I've ever had. I don't know what they are doing to them but they have no flavor and are just nasty. I really hope management will take note and get a better fry to go along with their basic burgers.
So here's the thing, the fries and buns are not great. But everything else is so delicious, and honestly - I don't really need buns or fries. And these burgers are so big and filling that it's not a loss. Also, the staff is great! Oh and the drinks are strong! A- overall.

Yesterday my daughter and I ate at Stella’s. The service was excellent and everyone was extremely friendly. I have to admit the bacon cheeseburger was the best I have ever had. I haven’t had homemade fries for years and had forgotten how good they are. I can’t recommend it enough. Definitely going back
I’ve been here several times now since moving back to Iowa city last summer. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are tasty. I’ve also had the pork tenderloin sandwich, which was outstanding. They have a great local beer menu and you can order flights to try beers you’ve never had before. All of the servers I’ve had have been very knowledgeable about the menu and super friendly. Love this place!
So my husband and I were looking for a new place to try for Valentine’s Day. We stumbled upon this place and oh my god did it exceed our every expectation! First, our waiter was absolutely amazing. I wish I had gotten his name so I could give him a shoutout… he didn’t hover over our table constantly or check in every time we took a bite, we also never ran out of drinks and he was around enough for us to enjoy the evening without excessive interruptions. He was SO helpful with the menu, and since we had not been there before we had tons of questions. He has clearly tried everything and knew what he was talking about. He made the experience there great!Next, the food.My husband and I tried the Crab cake for a starter. It’s just one, but oh my god… if you like crab cakes from Biagis, this is 10000000x better and comes with the most amazing mango jalapeño salsa! It was so good my husband and I were practically fighting over the garnish that had little crab flakes left in it. Would absolutely get it again, only might not share next time. It was also the size of a giant burger, it was reasonable for it to be only 1 cake and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.Next, I ordered the gumbo and my husband got the jambalaya. I was excited that these two did not taste at all the same and we’re beautifully executed. The okra was perfectly tender and not bitter, the shrimp was fresh and crisp, not over done or sitting in some steam pot all day, the andouille sausage was probably the best I have EVER had, and nothing was overly spicy! They were smart and kept most of the heat to the chipotle sour cream on top, so you could adjust the level of spice to your liking. I actually can’t handle spicy food so I got regular sour cream instead, my husband loves it and mixed it all in. It was absolutely perfect, and we haven’t been able to stop talking about how impressed we were and how much we can’t wait to go back to try the rest of their menu.Well done Stella! I hope that waiter we had reads this, because you were exemplary!!
Incredibly good! Great local beer list and the burgers were amazing. Felt like I should have been paying twice as much for the quality of food
Remarkable fantastic food. Waitress was such a delight. Would definately recommend as I give it 5 stars. Will make an extra trip 3 hour drive just to eat at Stellas!
Very good service. Food is yummy. The jambalaya and gumbo are spiced perfectly
