Best build-your-own burritos. Best rice, best queso, best tortillas. Love that they press each tortilla from dough in front of you. Sadly, this location was out of dough when I last visited, but the bowl was almost as good.
I usually have a good experience here, but today I ordered delivery and my bowl was very bad. The chicken was HARD and there was barely any rice and queso. Very disappointed today. Definitely not worth what I paid.
Employees were kind of arguing when we ordered food. Food tasted okay. But after I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and saw this toilet (see photo) I will never eat there again. Also, the guy running the cash register couldn’t make change. The bill came to whatever and $.28, so I gave him a $20 bill and $.30. He gave me the coins back and I had to give him another $20 bill.
Regret spending money on their queso today!!!! It isn't supposed to be nacho flavored cheese dip........
My burrito had charcoal bits from the grill and tasted really bad. People have said they are very dirty and I believe them. Never coming back here again for the sake of my health. Going to Estellas or Chipotle if I want a burrito next time. Absolutely disgusting!
Received great service there. I was picking g up a doordash and decided to pop my Pancheros cherry, if you know what I mean? Got a Burrito that was huge amd very very delish. I highlyRecommend Pancheros.
Last night my Husband and I visited Pancheros on RIverside drive. We were served by the most fun/professional/proficient and polite employees I have ever seen working there. Robert and Derek were awesome. Not only were they kind and friendly but they were great at their job. They loaded those burritos perfectly, wrapped em like the pros they are and made us what we believe to be the best burritos we have ever had from any of the stores in Iowa city.These 2 are excellent employees and true bloody legends.These guys deserve to be recognised by the higher ups.
This location on riverside is the worst Pancheros I have ever been to. It’s disgusting. Management is terrible. The employees have zero hustle to get burritos made. Waited in line 30 minutes to have meat made sense there was none cooked. Guy went from dicing meat up and just tossed it in the disgusting bin that it’s kept in. This place is getting reported to corporate and the health department.
Ordered to go off of DoorDash pickup. Showed up and showed the receipt on the phone to the staff. They stated: “That order has already been picked up. Not our problem, we are too busy to deal with it. Go on the app you ordered it and get your refund on there.” Horrible customer service. Refused to acknowledge us or their mistake or even make a new order after proving they were in the wrong. Took 30 minutes for the manager to show up and deal with the situation.
I can't say how disappointed I am with this Ponchero location. I came months ago and had a terrible experience. The guys were rude, unclean, was not following the Ponchero's decorum. Was treated with "racist" eyes. I thought maybe it was a fluke, but I went again today and had a similar experience. I have always had an enjoyable experience at Coralville ponchero, but the Iowa City location is awful. There is absolutely nothing that says we try to stay clean in this location. Instead, it screams, we don't give a darn about being neat or hygiene. It is such a sad place.
