Please treat yourself to this restaurant! Orchard Green has consistently excellent food. The menu doesn’t change often, but they have perfected what they serve. Sit downstairs for a more laid back vibe, and upstairs if you want the feeling of a fancier meal. This is the kind of place I enjoy on date nights, and not necessarily a place I want to take my children. I always order the vegetable risotto, or the whitefish. They’re both absolutely delicious! The crab cakes are the best I’ve had!

I must give complete stars because the food and service are excellent- also the people are extremely pleasant. I’d like to note that they are regular nice people and will make mistakes. I wish, however, I could give negative stars because I couldn’t get a table on the day I wanted it though I called early and often. But that would be dishonest and run counter to my current effort in these dark days to confine myself to writing positive reviews for those that deserve them. The cheese board is uniformly outstanding. Every entree has been well prepared and the wait staff and kitchen are creative and accommodating when it’s possible to tweak a menu item to make it gluten free

Pretentious interior with often disappointing food. Have eaten here three times and I have never been impressed by what I was served. Most recently tried the bouillabaisse, which was a fairly bland conglomeration of seafood cooked in a tomato base. Evidently geared toward a midwest audience that has never had bouillabaisse. Service was fine and the appetizer charcuterie board was good. If you are looking for fine food try Chez Grace or the Webster.

“My steak knife was dull, 1-star” a lot of these low star reviews are hilarious.Ate here for my birthday on a Saturday night, Maddie was our server and did a great job. I got filet mignon, which was delicious and cooked perfectly. The brussels were good and very rich as an appetizer. (The lady didn’t want the escargot like I did)The restaurant has very high ceilings and large windows so it can get loud in there, yet you’ll always be able to hear people at your table. We were there during a thunderstorm which felt quite neat. This was a great meal and easily one of the best I’ve had in Iowa City. You can be picky and CHOOSE to find something to complain or enjoy your delicious meal and enjoy a nice night together. My only complaint was the potato thing had a hard crust on the bottom that my steak knife could not cut through.

The food was delicious! Went here for our anniversary and it was well worth it. My camera is very broken so please excuse the poor quality. My fiance had a tomahawk steak and I had the duck. Both were wonderful. Desert was so rich and the raspberries really topped it off!

Expensive, but good food. The atmosphere is nice, and staff were very formal/professional. We ordered a cheese board, two entrees, two desserts, and two drinks. We liked everything except for one side. The portions were smaller/closer to actual portions I'd eat at home, so we didn't leave with any leftovers. It was a little too quiet/stuffy/formal for my liking, so I don't see myself going back. I can see why some people would want to go there, though. If you want that fine dining experience to celebrate something special, then this place would probably be what you're after.

Excellent food and professional service. The cowboy ribeye was prepared to perfection. All the appetizers were exceptional. The jalapeño margarita was a surprising favorite of mine.Relaxing atmosphere that feels unlike anywhere in Iowa City. Be prepared to spend some money, but be also be prepared for a true fine dinning experience.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner here for the last night of his visit here. We shared the Brussels sprouts, an order of focaccia, and the ribeye steak. I had the hot and filthy martini (pictured 3rd) as well as a cranberry manhattan - so good! He had the signature orchard green martini (pictured second). Nathan, our server, was so polite and provided stellar service the whole meal. Can't wait for my next visit. My one, very tiny complaint - the pours of the draft beers are just too foamy. I wouldn't order a beer. Just get one of their signature cocktails instead.

This was a tremendously disappointing experience. We had a group of 6 celebrating a wedding anniversary. We called ahead to request a table away from other diners (due to Covid). This is a fairly large restaurant and on a Monday, we thought it would be no problem. There were probably 10-15 open tables a sufficient distance from ours, and all of a sudden, they seated a couple right next to us! (3 feet away) At this point, it would have been rude to ask that couple to move, so we said nothing. We shouldn't have had to. We did complain to the manager on the way out and he seemed unconcerned. WE CALLED AHEAD! We will not be back! Too bad, because this had been our go to for special occasions. Poor management follow through. The food was good and the only reason this rating is not zero.

Mon’s birthday could not have been better. Allie, our waitress was attentive, accommodating and sweet. The Mahi Mahi special was insane. The fried oysters and the brussel sprout apps were perfect. This is our new fav place. Hats off to the chef.
