First time going here since Covid. Ribs were dry and overcooked, macaroni and cheese tasteless, and most of the staff seemed unconcerned with how long our to go order took (5 orders after us received their food before ours). The only bright spot was the server, short, thin, and had a man bun. He was pleasant and attentive. I never leave bad reviews, but I won't be going here again
This was a random stop and it was amazing. Great food and even better service.Got to try the Apple BBQ and Carolina BBQ. If your in Iowa City and want good food, come here.
40 minute wait to get 1 sandwich today.I ordered separate from the rest of my co-workers (#42, they were #48), their order (with 4 sandwiches) was ready before my own. Disappointed.Food is good, but nothing to wait 40 minutes for.
We had the combo meal, everything was excellent. Great to find a great place to eat when yourvfrom out of town. Would recommend to stop in and have a bite.
Not bad for Iowa lol. I like the food and the place is unique.
I had been wanting to come here for years. It smells outstanding when you walk in, and their sauce compliment was great. I really liked the ribs and the pulled pork. My dad loved the brisket. I wasn't quite as impressed, but I think I had let it sit too long. I'd gladly go back.
Excellent food and friendly staff! Definitely recommend!
the food is delicious the staff was courteous
My review is only based on one visit to pick up a Cuban sandwich. I went to Jimmy Jack's Rib Shack to try their Cuban sandwich. The service was great and so was the price. I had two sides, baked beans and French fried potatoes (both very good). The sandwich is described as "Piled high with pulled pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, cuban (sic) sauce, and piedmont style mustard on ciabatta. Their photo doesn't look what I received. It was tasty. This is not a genuine Cuban sandwich. It's served with the wrong bread, and it was not pressed. It didn't have roasted pork, but pulled pork. The ham was not Serrano ham and it was ordinary. The sandwich came with a runny mustard on the side, which may have been their "Cuban sauce." It will be taken off the menu at the end of the month, and not a moment too soon. Thoma's Cuban sandwich is immensely better. The sandwich will return in the future, as per staff. I will not buy it again. Great service! Great baked beans! Great fries!
Good but overpriced for what it was.Ribs were cold and chewey and a lot of ligament compared to meat. Sides were okay but nothing amazing.Sauces were very good though and nice staff.Would give another shot as a sandwoch or something cheaper tyeb the ribs meal whoch came to 30 bucks with drink and tip.
