We chose Iowa Chop House to celebrate and it was a good choice. Julia was our friendly and knowledgeable server. She immediately brought us water, took our drink orders and gave us enough time to peruse the menu. I asked if the salmon was available that night and she knew right away that it was. So I ordered the Salmon Filet, for $23, asked that it be cooked medium, not overcooked, and it was done perfectly. It came with rice pilaf, which was tasty, and green beans. I asked for the green beans to be cooked well, despite the popular method of being underdone. That's the only thing that wasn't right, but a small whine from me! My hubs had the Roasted Half Chicken, $17, served with roasted potatoes, sweet corn succotash, with a red wine demi glaze. He really enjoyed his meal, the chicken was done just right, and he took half home. The menu is a nice combo of appetizers, soups and salads, burgers, entrees, and steaks. There's a Beer Barn, one of the only self-pouring beer systems in the state, priced by the ounce. We enjoyed the decor, stone walls, contemporary furnishings. We plan on going back after a delightful meal.

My husband and I were lucky to discover this river view restaurant on our stay over in Iowa City. We arrived promptly at 5:00 with a reservation to make sure that we would get a river view table. We had a lovely view and a congenial and efficient waitress- Lyndsey. Several cocktails later we both enjoyed a very tasty salad course and loaf of bread. Yup - could have eaten another loaf. My husband had the Shrimp Monterrey and I had a delicious Salmon. Would definitely return again our next pass through the area. Perhaps no bread next time as I understand they have a killer Creme brûlée.

A good dining experience. Our waiter was attentive and nice. Bacon board app was tasty. Burger was just alright. My wife’s chicken sandwich was not great. Priced accordingly. We may go back again in the future for appetizers & drinks

Update: 3 to 5 start rating...Air Con broke that day. Quick response from restaurant is appreciated. We will be back again. Thank you!Extremely hot inside the restaurant. No air flow or air conditioning. Hopefully it was just a one night thing.Food, drinks and service were very good.

Great place! We ordered The Scottish and Bison Burger, both were cooked spot on. I was leery about ordering salmon. So many places over cook and dry it out. Not here! The same can be said for Bison. It's a fine line between done and hockey puck. We were pleased to find that Iowa Chop House doesn't cross that line! Definitely worth a visit!

We split crab cakes (divine!), 12 oz sirloin with onions, mushrooms, and garlic mashed potatoes. The value was great for the two of us. The house cocktails were well mixed. The steak was perfectly cooked and the sides were amazing. We will definitely be back!

Ordered the rib eye steak. It's ok, I think I cook better tasting rib eye steaks at home. It was overly seasoned and salty. Also ordered the duck breast entree. The duck was good and the sauce was nice with the asparagus and mashed potatoes.

We had a terrific, tasty dinner. Cheese curds are the best we’ve ever had, perfectly chewy cheese with crispy batter. Great menu and friendly, superlative service from Abby and also the kitchen crew. BBQ pork had very tasty sauce, and the Scottish Salmon sandwich was perfect. Very nice/classy farm decor and serving dishes. And add really good oldies tunes to a very fun and satisfying dining experience. Outstanding!

We ordered the mini beef wellingtons as an appetizer, and found that the beef was still frozen on the inside. I was concerned about being served frozen beef at a steakhouse, and was further disappointed that the appetizer was neither comped nor discounted on the final bill. Nevertheless, it tasted fine after it was reheated, presumably in the microwave. Everything else was decent, including the staff who were all friendly. Overall, the food was mediocre for the price, and your time and money are better spent elsewhere.

Took my daughter here for her birthday as we were in town for University tour. Walking distance from the hotel, great vibe in the area where this is located. Friendly people at the restaurant. Food was excellent, ambience excellent. Will definitely go again if my daughter lands there for studies or when I take child 3 to her tour.
