Very nice street seating restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great. It was a nice stop to relax and refuel before we continue 2 more hours on the road. A great piano player was in the background. Loved it all.
Lovely place in Iowa city. The restaurant is very nicely designed, spaceous and inviting. The food was good, the service was good, and the atmosphere was good.
The staff is wonderful, the setting is lovely. The open air seating is perfect. The food is not great. Too many flavors crammed into heavy, wet brioche French toast. I asked to leave off the bee pollen, but, I think that it was on the French toast anyway. I will not be going back. There is better breakfast across the street.
Love the outside seating in the warmer months. Their spritzer is amazing, so are their grapefruit mimosas. Great relaxed atmosphere. Espresso creme brulee was my favorite dessert of all time of any restaurant but sadly they cleaned up their menu and it's gone. Please bring it back!
Very strange menu. Almost nothing was recognizable, except for the gnocchi and the tiniest little cheeseburger I've ever seen. The bulk of the menu is a bunch of odd vegetable combinations. Very tiny servings. Nothing at all for children. Overpriced. We paid a ridiculous amount for a couple of under-done roasted carrots on a base of onion puree. The gnocchi was a tiny, few pieces in a giant bowl. Our server had a rather haughty attitude when we asked questions about all the "sharing" vegetables. It was just very strange. Thankfully we were with good friends and had a fun time, regardless.
They changed their menu but the food is very good and high quality. Cocktails always creative and delicious as well as the deserts. I can’t wait until they have outdoor dining and shut down the street again as well. The owners are fantastic and were walking around, being personable as f*ck, and checking in on all the tables even though they weren’t necessarily waiting that table. I can’t remember the female owners name but she stayed and chatted with us and was a joy. Her son greeted us and thanked us for coming. Great people here. Support this restaurant.
I am seriously underwhelmed. Heard many times from friends that the Goosetown was great. That was not my experience. We stopped by for lunch, and the lunch (“brunch”) menu was odd. Several items I’d have considered for dinner, more breakfast-type offerings, but the only sandwich was a burger. It was tasty, but the bun was very stale and the fries, which were nicely cooked, were also cold. There were four of us, and we split an order of the donuts (really donut holes) for dessert. Mine was completely raw inside. Not kidding. It was raw dough with a crust.I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon.
I went in for Sunday Brunch with a friend after the place we were planning on meeting at had an hour long wait.Surprisingly, there was a very short wait for 11am on a Sunday. Service was pretty good and very friendly! The menu unfortunately doesn't provide a very good idea on what serving quantities are like. We ordered sides of bacon and cheesey potatoes and were pretty disappointed by the cost to portion provided. That said, the bacon was phenomenal, it was very thick cut and well seasoned. Our entrées were also very good, if keeping to the trend of feeling a bit expensive for the quantities. I would absolutely go again myself, but would be cautious to recommend it due to the cost.
My partner and I used to love coming here for date nights. It was elevated but still accessible to people on an entry-level budget. Sadly, this is not the case any more. We are both disappointed in how the quality has declined since they reopened. The servers are great as are the cooks, however the new menu seems lacking, inaccessible, and overpriced. Perhaps they are trying to compete with the new upscale joint across the street?
Very nice staff. Not a whole lot else positive to say. Super long wait at brunch for drinks, food, bill, pretty much everything. Menu changes have gotten very eccentric (and not in a good way). There are better brunch options in the area imo.Really, really miss the chorizo bowl :/
