Have never had a good time here..this is a total frat bar..been here several times and all but once had bad experiences..crowd is very standoffish and unfriendly unlike pretty much every other iowa bar downtown.Not the bars fault but is an issue.
Door staff threatened and blocked me from leaving on a Wednesday night years ago at about 955pm for simply walking out the door with a box of chicken wings. I thought I had a to go order. Beyond disturbing, possibly illegal. They cited no open containers beyond the front door. Open container LAW is for alcohol, not carry out food in a closed box. I was under 21 so either I had to throw the wings away or eat in the bar illegally as a minor in a bar after 10pm or be assaulted by staff taking my food out the door.In essense when you purchase food here, its not really yours.... I can't believe they WANT to treat people this obnoxiously. I think it was like 3 dollars of wings... Hope it was worth it.

Worst service, or none at all. Stopped in for a few drinks and wings. Only three people at the bar and we grabbed a table. Bar tender saw us,l but never acknowledged us. Actually was busy on her phone and then proceeded to eat. We waited expecting a waitress to come out from the back, but no one came. We ended up leaving. Really unbelievable. We know it’s a college bar, but seriously. Thought we had super powers of invisibility. On a Wed night at 6pm.
Went in for a quick drink and lunch but left after one beer without ordering food. The place was full of flies and nats. Had to toss out my water because it was filled with bugs after just a few minutes of sitting.This is clearly a dirty college bar. I’m sure it’s fun being young but as a 32 year old I like clean lol.The doors are kept open allowing bugs, which is fine. But the nats.. that’s not because of open doors. I can’t imagine what the liquor bottles look like inside ?

Never had a bad experience in here ever. The only downside is it's usually very packed on the weekends mostly but it's a large space and plenty of room for plenty of people. The drinks are usually well priced also.
Well it was 4 of us and They charged $20 per person for entrance fees! They have done nothing for the new year eve( no dj, nothing special) and once when you get out they want you to go back to the line and they charged us again!!!!! Poor Brothers Bar you used to be really good place what happened now!!!

During covid, brothers charges you to get in, gives you wrist bands, then when you come back takes you to the back of the line, and then charges you again. The door guy will call the cops, then the cops take your side and then they try and kick you out for already paying. The door people try and make extra money, so don’t go early and try to get in, because they will make you pay twice. They have no respect for the consumer and will use the police against you. If you are a person of color, they will make you go to the back of the line. They have no respect for paying customers, specially if you are brown.
