Sadly, the pizza was as good as last time and if not, better! So I guess we will have to keep eating more of it! If you want an Iowa City original, and you are from out of town, eat here for sure; otherwise please do not compare this to your last pizza in Italy or etc. We have been eating here since 25 years back, when we went to college at UI, and it is still awesome and has the same old fashion vibe! One suggestion: free refill on beer or to-go-cups for the beer!
An Iowa City classic. Used to have actual dough tossed in the front window, which sadly is no longer done, but the process of making and cooking the pizzas is all still out in the open. A cozy atmosphere, with amazing pizza. This is one of the places I take out of town visitors to show them one of the local highlights. Highly recommend going if you're in the area and considering and especially if you haven't already been.
My favorite pizza place in town going on for damn near 30 years. They are super prompt getting pizzas out for takeout, I can't even remember a time I've waited more than 15-20 min. Only downside is they don't do delivery but with how popular the place is I don't think they'd be able to do both successfully. You can also dine-in but I've only done so rarely, it's very much an old school pizza parlor atmosphere inside.
Dine in or take out, you can't go wrong The palace special is my favorite!
Friday night, very busy. But that's no excuse for a tasteless, flour and water, tough "thin crust" that's no so thin and I almost chipped my tooth on. A bunch of 18 year olds in the window making pizza for the first time. With at least ten people behind the counter, you still have to wait 20 minutes to get out of there -- poor business model only have one, again very inexperienced, person taking the money. In a university town, I hate to think of how many walkouts they have. Poor service from very young and inexperienced waitstaff. Anchovies that smelt like they'd been aged in a backwater outhouse for a month before use -- in summer. Even Pizza Hut and frozen DiGiorno is better than this. Very limited and unimaginative menu of pizza only. I can only think all the reviewers of this place have never tasted real food before (kids just leaving home) and they're mostly from that party school U of I and have been drunk when they ate there. Did I mention that it's also very overpriced. Save your dough, go elsewhere
Great pizza, place is very clean, service was fast and friendly. Got a large so would be some leftover to take home. It's better the next day cold!
Been quit a few years. We had 2 10 inch pizzas. They were really tasty2 suggestions , girl who answered on 2 26 22 was rather brash in tone.Next. Please UPDATE YOUR MENUE PRICES ON YOIR WEBSITE TO REFLECT YOUR INCREASES ON PIZZA AND SEPARATE SONGLE TOPPING ADDITIONS
Best pizza in Eastern Iowa for sure. Thin, crispy crust. Simple and tangy sauce. Fresh and tasty toppings. Pizza and drinks only. So they have to do it right! Always good! Put it on your pizza list!
Best Pizza in the Midwest! If you live in Iowa City, you already know that, but if you are traveling through on I-80 stop by. You'll be glad you did.
Awesome Pizza Great Service
