We were so excited to experience the best restaurant in Dubuque. I made a reservation days before our visit. They did not have our reservation so we went to the bar to have a cocktail and wait. We were met by the bartender that stated they had no drink menu. They presented us with a old menu and covered what they did not have. He then told us, what's wrong with you ladies, you seemed stressed and then walked away. We then picked up our stuff and left.
My first time in Iowa and I literally had the best meal of my life! The beaf tenderloin was off the chain! And I've lived in Miami, & NYC and dined at some of the best places but Kim Wolfe clearly has a passion for fine dining which is demonstrated in the way she picks only the finest of Iowan homegrown!!!! The last time I ate like this was in Montepiliar France 30 years ago at a place called "La Grange (the Farm)" Some meals, you never forget and this will be one of them!
Food was amazing. We had shrimp scampi and beef tenderloin. Delicious and cooked to perfection. The service staff are excellent. The restaurant is charming with an excellent wine list. This was a great find when traveling in the area wish this was closer to Chicago.
Service by Marissa was excellent and the entree I had was not only superb, pasta beef tips….but the mix of flavors and spices in it surpassed anything I can ever remember. And I’ve eaten in restaurants from France, to Spain, and up and down the coast of the NE US. My partner had the 1/2 chicken and liked it lots! We were taking a road trip along the towns of the Mississippi when the owner of the B &B in Dubuque recommended this place. It’s a nice restaurant and given that, we thought the prices were reasonable, but not cheap!
Had a terrific meal there earlier this week. Great Beef Pasta dish with deep dark flavors. Very friendly and helpful wait staff.
A friend recommended this place a while back and I finally had a chance to visit! Service top notch. As were the martinis! Caesar salad had a zippy dressing with (I think) a ton of garlic in it which cleared out my sinuses! Bread basket featured delicious bread baked that day with ingredients that change daily - I slathered butter all over each slice and ate them up with no sense of guilt! I had a taste for lamb chops and this was the only place in a 50 mile radius that had them. The lamb chops were juicy and tender, although the strong taste of the feta cheese and calamata olives garnish kind of overwhelmed the mild taste of the lamb. Limited appetizer and dessert menus but, again, I didn't necessarily go here for those items! I'm looking forward to going back soon to try another one of their entreés!
What a fantastic place to eat! We got there early for our reservation and had one of the apple-flavored old fashion, wow it was so delicious. The bar staff was friendly and full of information about Dubuque, very personal. Then came the superb mussels in wine and onion sauce with delicate homemade rye bread mmmm. Wife had the best tenderloin filled with an incredible flavored butter on a bed of mashed, shivered carrots and pieces of broccoli. I had the stupendous NY strip prepared to perfection on the same bed of potatoes. Last but not least was the fantastic tasting lemon chiffon torte. What an experience, what an event. Best place we have ever eaten. We will return.
Between my appetizer (artichoke dip- phenomenal) - soup (beef stew - absolutely packed with flavor), and the meatloaf (bacon wrapped, with fresh mozzarella, broccolini, and sour cream mashed potatoes), washed down with a good locally brewed IPA, this was probably the best 50 dollar meal with tip I’ve had in a long time. Plus a nice to go package! Highly recommend this place.
Best Gumbo Ive ever had. Had some leftover. Even better the next day. Amazing flavors and authentic flavors for a southern dish in the midwest
This place is too pretentious for its own good.Food had amazing taste... but half the ribeye was fat.Drinks looked great but had just a splash of alcohol.
