While I was a little reluctant to have a nice family lunch in a restaurant that seems a little heavy handed with the Confederate flag... I was pleasantly surprised. What a nice place to grab a beer and meal downtown. (There are no flags inside, fyi) The decor is top notch. Sort of a southern, whiskey bar kinda place. Lots of TVs for sports. The drink selection is pretty basic, but we had no problem sucking down some domestics. The food was better than I expected, with the Reuben seeming to be the highlight of the menu. Can't wait to give that Cuban a try!
My experience was less than ideal. I understand that a Saturday night can be very crazy and that staffing is difficult. However there are only a few tables in the place. We asked the bartender if we could sit in the open table. He confirmed with the waitress that would be fine. The bartender gave us our drinks and we went to the table. The waitress walked by us multiple times in the 30 minutes that we waited at the front table. Did not ever acknowledge that we were sitting there. Not even a "I will be right with you!" As a former server, you at least make eye contact and acknowledge when walking past. People at the bar that came in after us had their order taken and we didn't get so much as a Hi!.We left money on the table that hopefully covered our drinks and left because we couldn't even get the attention to pay for them. Only positive was the music was great while we were sitting there!
Bartender was rude and mad that we wanted to order appetizers an hour before the kitchen closed. Didn't ask about side sauces. We told her that we were waiting for the check. 14 mins later she brought it over. Won't be going back.
Went for a Friday lunch, had the Dixon Chicken with the BBQ sauce on the side, along with a side of cole slaw. It was delicious, server was friendly and attentive. I've had the pulled pork and fries here also which is also quite good. They have Ribs a couple nights a week which are awesome. I think this place is underrated.

Drinks are good/reasonably priced but way to crowded for my taste. Almost impossible to move in there when it's busy
Went here for drinks after a show at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque. It was on a Sunday night and the crowd was bigger than I think they anticipated because there was only one bartender, but he did a great job keeping up.
