Always delicious. Haven't been there for a few years. My husband and I drove almost 3 hours to enjoy your cuisine. Awesome customer service.
Busy, but worth the wait. We enjoyed an unhurried eating experience! Great portions. Delicious!
Wanted a quaint, “good old days” dinner with the Mrs. We went to a couple supper clubs in the area. But they were full with significant wait times, and had more of a “bar” feel than the quaint restaurant I was looking for. Mario’s was perfect. It has a great bar atmosphere if you want fronting a fantastic restaurant setting from the days of the past. And the food will certainly make you go back!
Was visiting from out of town and came here on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Two of us had the Panz and enjoyed it and third had stuffed shells and also liked there meal. We wouldn't hesitate coming back if we are ever in town again.
Amazing family owned, one of a kind homemade Italian Restaurant. It is located in a really cool area of downtown Dubuque, Iowa which has transformed itself nicely from a rough and tumble river town into a solid destination town with quality culture and culinary. The food was amazing, the help friendly and educated and real not rehearsed. A MUST stop.
Used to be so good. This time our panzerottis were doughy and there was about a pint of grease in the bottom of our to go containers. We threw them away. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Heard from a friend about Mario's so my wife and I decided to give it a try.. Short and sweet... Fabulous food no disappointment here!! A must try if your in the area with easy access..
The food and the service were good. The atmosphere was exactly as expected. We enjoyed our time there.
Never again. Both our pasta dishes came out cold, dry, and the pasta hard and burnt on top. Shells Florentine filling was cold, uncooked. Scant sauce, which had no flavor. Ordered another cup of sauce, which was basically salty pureed Roma tomatoes, not a lick of spice..nope, not even a hint of garlic. If someone gave this cooking a good review, they don't actually like Italian food. Our gradeschool cafeteria cooks served way better. Sorry, Mario. (May he rest in peace)
This is exactly the kind of place where I love to eat! A little neighborhood mom-'n'-pop place of long standing and great personality! Such wonderful food! Very authentic sauces! And such a pleasant easy-going staff! I had the Veal Parmigiana which was tender, moist, and flavorful. Subtle cheese and nicely zesty sauce. The wife had a panzerotti that was as big as a football; we got a whole 'nother meal out of the leftover! The best Italian food between Chicago and St. Louis! A special shout-out for the décor -- that warm wonderful wooded Seventies vibe was a big part of our enjoyment. So evocative of places fondly remembered from our youth. Don't ever change it! If you're even just passing thru town, do stop and dine here! It's a wonderful experience!
