BEYOND disappointed! Our waitress Kenzie was the most forgetful and non-present server. We had to frequently go to the bar or try to hunt her down for drink refills. We waited for 2 hours only to find out she FORGOT to put our pizza order in. The manager very kindly comped our drinks. We will NOT be returning though if Kenzie is still working there.Such a disappointment too, because we had out of town family with us and talked up the amazing deep dish so much!
My wife and I stopped in for dinner and the pizza was phenomenal. We had the deep dish Gino's Supreme...it was amazing. Our waitress Kayla suggested the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer and they were awesome! We also had the pleasure of chatting with the owners! Great atmosphere, cool decor, we will be back...definitely need to hit this place up!
As a Chicago transplant, I savored having a Gino's East in my adopted hometown of Dubuque. We struggled to get takeout at Gino's since they opened months ago (completely understandable due to staffing shortages everywhere), and finally got to order takeout smoothly over the phone. The mozzarella and spinach sticks were the best we've ever had, however, both our thin-crust pizza and deep-dish pizzas were completely overdone...very, very dark. I truly wanted to adore this food. I had to wait an extra 10 minutes past the designated time to get my order--not a problem as I understand how kitchens/restaurants work. However, had they taken the pizzas out of the oven before overcooking them I could having given the rave review I wanted to. In my time waiting for my takeout order, the staff was supremely attentive and the ambiance and location of the restaurant is spot on. If the cooking times improve, this could be a much higher review. Truly hoping for better times to come for Gino's East.
We were looking forward to some good deep dish - this is a favorite stop for us typically in Chicago. After 20 minutes of being seated, no one acknowledged us. Even the table next to us got drinks already and had come in 15 minutes after. This is a shame because I'm sure the pizza is good.
Service was extremely horrible! Walked in the restaurant about 5:45 on a Saturday evening. Hostess sat our party of 3 quickly. Sat in the booth for 20 minutes and no one waited on us! What made us get up and leave…a party of 6 was seated next to us and received water and was asked for their drink order upon being seated! Food won’t ever taste good if your service sucks!! Don’t waste your time.
Would like say great job in customer service and the staff here. DayJanae went above and beyond when ordering and picking the best deep dish pizza in Dubuque! People have to realize a true deep dish pizza takes 45 minutes to 1 hour to make right. If you want a pizza fast go get a frozen one and quit complaining! My wife Robin my dog Hugo Huber approves too! Will back and thanks for putting a Gino's East of Chicago in Dubuque!! Happy New Year!!!
I'm actually disappointed because I wanted deep dish. Went in for dinner and no one greeted me at the door. Waited five minutes. Walked up to bar to ask if I had to sit myself and they didn't acknowledge me at the bar either. Left after 10-15 minutes without a single hi from the staff.Edit: I love the response for "carry-out only" however there were customers eating in the restaurant with dirty dishes at the booths.
Really bad! Expected so much more. Ordered pizza and drinks. No problem that we had to order drinks and pizza at the counter, expected that. We did have a problem with it taking over an hour and a half to finally get our deep dish pizza burned. To add to it, the waitress said she'd be right back with silverware and plates but I had to go up and grab those plus had to go back up again and get promised peppers and cheese. I couldn't find a penny in my pocket so I left a nickel tip. We've had Gino's in Chicago, outstanding. Don't think we'll be coming back to the Dubuque one!
Enjoyed a great night out at Gino's East in Dubuque on a Wednesday night. They are doing just carry out right now, but we ordered than sat and enjoyed or pizza and apps in the restaurant. Staff was super friendly. Deep dish pizza was great and the appetizers (tried the Brussels sprouts and the mozzarella stick sampler platter) were tasty! Will definitely stop back again.
A group of 5 decided to give Gino's a try on Sunday evening. I called to be sure they were open & was told yes, but no servers would be available. We showed up, had to wait to be seated, not because they were busy, but because the person at the front desk was on the phone. At the same time she was arguing with another person about seating us. Not a good way to begin a dining experience! We finally were seated, placed a drink order & then a food order. Got drinks & an appetizer, then waited an hour & 15 mins for a small & two large pan pizzas to begin coming to the table. The first was good, the second 2 came out with burnt crusts. Of course, the flavor of the pizza was compromised because of that!I understand this is a new business venture, but those of us who had experienced Gino's in Chicago were very disappointed! And I haven't even mentioned the prices which I felt were high...our checks were almost $150!
