We arrived at 1:20 they said it's a 20 minute wait. plenty of open tables. we waited at the bar ordered a drink. The hostess came and got us and seated us. we sat there 10 minutes she seated another table. 10 minutes later we are still not waited on the waiter waits on those people. After sitting there 20 minutes my husband asks her if we can place our order. she said she thought we were waited on since we had drinks but we had our menus in front of us and she knew we got our drinks from the bar! The waiter says the same thing even though we had our menus in front of us. And he didn't get us the drinks. He takes our order it's another 45 minute wait. It was only hamburgers and fries. We are waiting for our bill after we are clearly done eating for about 20 minutes and we see our waiter outside on his phone. We had to finally go up to the bar to pay our bill after we had been there for 2 hours! I wanted to walk out before we begged to be waited on. Should have gone to the Vault across the street. Yeah we won't be back and they weren't even busy!
Awesome Food and friendly staff.
Excellent in all aspects! Portions are generous & plenty of great options for everyone! Feels classy/trendy yet super relaxed, roomy inside with a great noise level for socializing with your table. Clientele were young to old with business to just-came-off-the-river look. Superb staff & a manager who made quick visits to check on us twice ?. Half-price apps Happy Hour after 9 pm?...would love to visit for this too. Excited to try more of their locations!
Everyone in our party enjoyed their food, including 2 little ones. My only caveat is that the nashville hot chicken wasn't even spicy. Service was great and friendly.
We dined here on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - there weren’t a lot of options close to our hotel as many places are closed on Sunday in Dubuque downtown. We had a pizza which was good and more than enough for two, a chocolate bomb dessert which was okay. I tried a local (Dubuque) craft beer: 7 Hills Wonky Kong, which was fantastic. The service was lovely and fast.
Friendly service and killer burgers and beer
We stopped at The Barrel House on our way thru Dubuque. Food was great, but our waiter Travis was outstanding! Very nice young man who did everything you'd want a great waiter to do! His mom raised him right!!!
Great food! We both had one of their burger and soft pretzels. Everyone was very friendly. Dessert, chocolate bomb cake, was amazing.
The interior ambience, the location are all good. On-street parking is a hassle due to the ticket-happy Dubuque police. The specific waiter we had was nice, but not efficient nor that memorable. We had to ask for eating utensils AND EVEN NAPKINS. The knowledge of specific food and drink questions was 50/50. Yes, it tasted good. The Barrell House fries were delicious, but an undersized serving The portobello mushroom sandwich was tasty. However, if you look at the photo on the menu, that wasn't exactly what was served. We had to ask for the garnish, lettuce, pickle, tomato (all of which were pictured, but not delivered). The waiter's response was "oh, that's just the picture..." Well, admittedly he was young, so young that he couldn't legally tell us about any beer taste or choice. Would I return? possibly, but it wouldn't be a first choice. Bang for the buck? not much.
Excellent tasting food and service!! Fish and chips portion was huge. Chicken tenders thick and juicy. I wish I lived in the area so I could go here more often. Would definitely be back if ever in the area again. Highly recommend!
