She said she'd make me a $5 gin drink and the martini came back eight bucks, and as I was chatting with a couple people at the bar next to me she swiped my three Olive stick id carefully placed on my smartphone to save for last. The couple next to me saw it happen and thought it was very over-boundary. Nothing personal I'm sure she was just cleaning the bar hectically and not thinking about what she did. She did apologize and then brought me a five olive cup in compense. It seemed like a nice fashionable place I was in town for business, and I'd started drinking tonic water occasionally for the quinine in response to getting the hoax a couple months ago so the name drew me in out of curiosity. I'll raise the three to a four for your concern I do appreciate owner response.
Fast service, clean bar & restrooms, amazing staff!! When they do the drag brunch, the bar turns into a runway show! So beautiful. perfect patio for the nice weather, too!!!
Stopped by for a drink. Bartender was very friendly. Nice bar. Games available. Worth a stop in for a drink or two.
Best place downtown to grab a drink, watch some sports, smoke a cigar or meet new people. The bartenders are pretty amazing too! ?
They had the Bud Crawford fight and didn't charge to get in! Great atmosphere and plenty of TV! We were in town from Omaha for a youth basketball tournament and came about 20 - 30 deep to watch the fight! Thanks for a great experience!!!!
This place is a local favorite. Only thing I don't like where all the fruit flies and gnats behind the bar. Something behind the bar smells terrible; like a fridge that needed to be cleaned out or some other nasty Gunk . They have a shuffleboard and two pool tables as well! No paper towels in the bathroom and the dryer didn't work.
AMAZING. Brooke makes the best drinks possible. If you don’t hit this spot when in DSM you’re sleeping.

Brook is by far the rudest bartender downtown. Not friendly and will kick you out even after spending plenty of money in there just because you aren't having another drink. Straight up needs an attitude adjustment or find a job that doesn't deal with customers. Won't be going in there if she is working, the mean mug alone isn't worth dealing with.
You cannot find a better service staff in downtown Des Moines. All of the Tonic staff provide impeccable service. Stop in and check it out for yourself.
