At one time, my favorite place to eat in Des Moines. This was my first time back since before COVID. The food is still topnotch. The broasted chicken is the best; the bacon wrapped smokies totally rock; the goulash, roast beef, meat loaf, and pot pie are all up there. Unfortunately, so are the prices. I would estimate that they have doubled since my last visit. In their defense, however, I never understood how they could serve such amazing food at their formerly low prices. It is still worth going to and I will be back.

Had the beef liver which was quite good. The sides were decent. The beer was also worth it, go with the pitchers.

Comfort food at it finest! Where else can you grab a chicken pot pie that’s better than mom made? I highly recommend the pizza puff- it will remind you of days spent at the baseball field as a kid. It’s on the menu as a basket- but you can order just one.The decor is like nothing else in #DSM and reminds me of my grandma’s basement. Over all, lots of nostalgia on the menu and in the restaurant.When my husband has had a rough week- this is his choice for a night out!

OMG...this establishment does not disappoint. Lived here many years and this was my first dining experience here. Can't say enough great things...had the brosted chicken and it was the best chicken I've had, EVER, and I love chicken!! Waitress was super and so polite, her name was Katelyn, and was very attentive. I can understand why this is a popular place to dine..If you haven't ever been here please go you won't be disappointed. BTW food prices are very affordable even in light of rising food costs. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
