I had never visited Des Moines before and was there for the first time over the weekend. My family and I ate there on Saturday, and we had the BEST service! Our server was Alaina and she was one of the best servers I have ever had in a restaurant. And I’ll always remember her. She was great with customers, but also genuinely personable. Being a server myself, recognition goes a long way, and I hope she gets praised for this. She deserves it ??
I am absolutely in love! The food is so amazing, and it was surprisingly cheap with how well their quality was. I got the build your own pasta where you get free refills on your pasta, and it was only $11 per person! The food was absolutely amazing, as was the salad bar. Their desert tasted good too, though they don't have many options for it. I really enjoyed the vibe overall of this place, it felt cozy and not overcrowded, even though I was there when they were very busy. The servers were nice and we got our food very quickly. I'm in love and I will definitely go again soon!
We normally enjoy eating at Spaghetti Works but our most recent visit was very disappointing. Our server was great and made sure we were taken care of! On the other hand, the cook was not impressive at all. We ordered chicken livers to go with our pasta, as we have many times before. First, he told our server to say they were out but then after our server inquired a second time at our request, he actually yelled at him for asking him to cook them. At our server's insistence, the chicken livers were prepared but not at all to our liking - they were crunchy and well done, which is not how they should be cooked. If an item is on the menu and is available, there should be no problem making it for a customer. Also, my angel hair pasta had clumps all through it, so it was not cooked correctly either. The cook that was in the kitchen on May 23, 2022, should think about why he's there and be happy to cook for customers. We probably won't be coming back anytime soon or maybe ever, which is very disappointing, as we've come to this restaurant for years.
This was a cute Italian diner type of experience. It's in a great location with a lot happening. The service was a little inconsistent between employees. They have a small salad bar, which was oddly almost too dark to see anything. We ordered their gluten free options. The food was good, but left something to be desired in presentation.
terrible service again had to ask for a server
Great customer service and food was delicious !!
I loved the food, it was just so good. But the best part has got to be the free refills, first and only restaurants I've ever been to that let's you refill the main course, I got two helpings of spaghetti and enjoyed every bite, the server was able to help when we needed it whether that was forgetting my fork in the first plate, to getting me a new drink when I ran out without me having to ask. The food came out quick and was still nice and hot. The server was able to keep up with our needs while keeping the other guests well kept. 10/10 will visit again
Good quality food and a great atmosphere. The servers are attentive and courteous. The only issue I had with my visit was the time it took to get our initial plates of food and the refill of drinks and plates, BUT they were exceptionally busy during our dinner visit and so I wouldn't hold this against them. The salad bar had a great selection and the menu offered a varied and delicious selection of foods
I'm going to give the Spaghetti Works a five-star rating, although I was somewhat displeased by the meal I had at our most recent visit this past Sunday (pictured.) I had the Hot Italian Pie, which includes pepperoni, sausage, penne pasta, black olives, and provolone cheese then baked and served in individual dish. I've had this dish before, but one thing I noticed about this most recent visit is that they seem to have doubled up on the amount of pepperoni this time. Now, I like spicy dishes... but the amount of pepperoni made this way too spicy. I tend to jump around on the menu, and we will be back for sure. Someday, I will order this again and I'm hoping that I don't get pepperoni overload again! The full menu is available online, and many of the main entrees come with garlic bread. The garlic bread by the way is excellent. Make a point to visit the salad bar, as you will find that the salad bar is well stocked. Another dish that I have had here is the plain old spaghetti and meatballs. Can't beat it!
Very disappointing experience… after waiting 30 mins at 3:15p in the afternoon. Salad bar was disappointing as well as the spaghetti was over cooked and mushy. My husband got the lasagna and it was basically noodles and cold in the center plus couldn’t even find any meat. We spent well over $30 for very subpar food. We will NOT be back!
