The people were nice, we were seated and served quickly, and our order was accurate. The salsa was the nastiest I’ve ever had. My husband and I both took a bite at the same time and made the same face at each other - gross! We asked for hot salsa to see if it was any better but it was just a different kind of gross. The rest of the food was just so so.
Visiting Des Moein from out of town, and stopped by this place for lunch. So happy that we did. The food is amazing. The portions are huge. I couldn’t finish mine and took the rest for dinner. Service is also great. Everyone was super friendly and fast. Will come back in the future.
Pueblo Viejo is one of the best lunch spots on the East side of Des Moines. The food is always outstanding. The staff is friendly and most of them have been there for years, the service is always great. I have tried a lot of the menu over the past several years, but my favorites are the Pollo Loco and the Fajita Quesadilla. Don’t forget to ask for their spicier salsa. It has a great smoked/roasted flavor and is just a bit hotter than their normal salsa, it’s delicious!
Chicken fajitas were delicious w/ enough for 2 people or a 2nd meal. Quick service.
My husband and I ordered to go, I had a steak fajita and the steak was bland, tasted like it was leftover no flavor, rice and beans left an aftertaste. My husband ordered beef chimichanga and enchilada, the chimichanga looked more like a burrito, just meat tortilla no cheese or anything extra, enchilada was good. We had been at the establishment before and the food was good, this experience was bad ? photo is the steak fajita that I didn’t finish. Very disappointed ☹️
Love this place, been going there for years, good food, and the employees are nice, polite, Curtis, service is fast from time of order to table.
Chips and salsa was pretty good. We were seated quickly with friendly service. Waiter was really nice and checking on us. I like how they brought out a cold mug to go with the coors light. The chalupa was really big and crispy. Excellent meat inside. Food came out hot. Spanish rice was really delicious, was super soft and fresh. Chips were fresh as well. The food comes out so fast it’s unreal.

We had great service and the prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, we didn't love the food and really didn't like the drinks. They seemed watered down. I had the shrimp fajitas and there just wasn't much flavor to it.
Excellent service, well prepared, promptly served delicious food. Excellent Margaritas! I highly recommend the Gold Margarita, lol it coupled with the good food and great service from our waitress! Very reasonable prices menu items. Muchos Gracia!!??✌️
