Lachele's is just one of those places that everyone needs to try at least once. The hole-in-the-wall restaurant/diner is easy to miss when rolling down Ingersoll, but make no mistake, it's well worth a stop. The place only seats less than 30 people total, so unless it isn't busy, good luck getting a seat right away. They're known for their greasy smash burgers made on their flat top griddle, and you can watch the entire process if you want, as it's cooked right behind the counter. There's a certain vibe of efficiency & indifference among the employees, and it's comforting. So, if you've never been here, don't overthink it; just order a burger. Although you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu.In my opinion, the Chili Mac is the tastiest side order. Creamy, cheesy, and just the perfect amount of spice. But they offer fries, tots, chili, hush puppies, and even salad believe it or not.Just do your mouth a favor and stop into Lachele's sometime. They never disappoint.

So yummy!!! Smash burgers are perfect! Staff is amazing. Fries are…so good! Hot and crisp! Thanks for doing what you do well!! I’ll be back….

I could say it's hard for me to be truly impressed with a place so quickly, but, here we are.I really did not know what to expect going to a burger restaurant near downtown, being plant based; it was a pleasant surprise.I'm very eager to tap this off, as I'm nearing 1 million views on these reviews, giving insight on such a pleasant experience. We were waiting for family to arrive, so they took our order and added us to a wait-list for a table but offered bar seating as an option. The staff were amazing. I have never seen such a cohesive team, and to do so in front of your guests, goes to show the level of,,, they're going for, and succeeding. They kept up on our water, checking in, and maintaining any requests, or those for my family. They didn't rush us, even though they were busy, which was great, as we had not seen these family members in a while, and were catching up. They were calm and patient. While my beef-eating family members enjoyed their cheeseburgers, I opted for the veggie burger on a bed of fries with extra grilled onions, and pepper jelly, which was delicious. It had a good texture (crisp on the edge, without the "meat," of it creating any mushiness), and the fries had a very balanced level of salt and flavor to them, with a perfect bite. You could eat them on their own, as I enjoyed it, with bits of my food. The atmosphere is bright and airy, energizing and fun.For such a small space, it extends, making it feel very open. With an open kitchen concept, you can watch them prepare your meals while enjoying chatter. It is forward facing, that makes it personal and not closed off.The menu has an enjoyable variety, while not overwhelming its reader, and there is an ample drink list, libations, and the like.

I would Highly recommend Lachele’s, no doubt the best burgers around. Great staff very clean and cute little restaurant. Thanks for the excellent food and service!

5/5 Stars!! Ordered the Lachele on a Veggie Patty with Hush Puppies. Staff was extremely knowledgable and friendly and food was phenomenal. Will be back again!

Hey, when you got a burger joint rated one of the top ten in Iowa, you gotta try it. I ordered The Jake, The Gym, Hush puppies with a creamy cheese sauce for take out lunch. Standing room only—no tables available. There were all ages inside. Great service—Parking with construction was terrible. Had to park on the street and walk in. The flavors were sizzling from the grill. The potato bun was soft. The smash on the meat is similar to Smash burger with more flavor. This is a good place to try as Channel 8 rates the “Best Burger” in Iowa.

Love the burgers here! Personally, I think the best in DSM. I follow on social media and the postings of the daily specials make me want to drop everything and go eat! Will definitely be back again soon! Great crew working behind the counter as well!

Wow! What a cool place with some amazing food. The burgers are smashed thin, cooked crispy, bathed in cheese, dressed up and served on a fluffy sesame bun. We enjoyed the tots, and others were saying good things about the fries. The place is small, so you may have to wait for a table, but the tables turn quickly and before our food was ready we had a seat at the counter. It was a joy to watch the intricate dance of employees taking orders, preparing the different elements of the food and bringing it all together as complete orders delivered to waiting hungry customers. The staff also seemed to enjoy the process, and it shows in the food and their attitudes. This is a rare thing today and it should be celebrated.

My husband and I really liked this place and the atmosphere. Our burgers were great and the tots were amazing. They have an awesome house ranch type dip also. There is so much more on the menu that I want to try. One negative is that seating is limited and they claim to have "first come first served" rules on sitting down. We ordered and sat down and there were still open seats, but somehow we broke a rule so idk how the seating works or why they have rules that don't make sense.

Lachele’s has become that hidden secret everyone knows about. They serve amazing quality, fresh food with a flair that can’t be recreated! Expect nothing but the best!!
