Steak burned to a charred black inedible crisp. Ordered it to be cooked to medium. This is the worst food I have ever been served at a restaurant. I will never go back. This is the first time I’ve ever been given food so bad that I felt compelled to write a review about it. The manager of the restaurant was also the cook and even had the courage to charge me for the salad bar. I wish I could give zero stars.
If you get lucky, you might get served a properly cooked steak at this restaurant. I was served a black, charred, way past well done NY strip. The steak was ordered to be cooked to medium.
If you love a “mom and pop” type vibe and a damn good steak, this is your place!! The staff is always pleasant and the food is always great. We live in Ames but this is our go to steakhouse. Sydney was our server tonight and she was extremely pleasant and accommodating. We will be back!
The salad bar hmmmm but the steaks and service top notch! The mushroom skillet is a must and extra garlic bread for a buck are you kidding me! I had the 20 oz Teriyaki sirloin and it was great and was enough for 2 meals. The waitress outstanding but my company from the gun shop made it all more enjoyable. Not fancy but great steaks at a fair price.
Had reservations for 11 guests. Waited forever for the waitress Nikki to even come to our table. Waited forever for our drinks and food. Waitress was extremely rude when asking for water she walked away and said Jesus christ really. Then when multiple of our guests drinks were empty and waiting forever we went to find our server and she had a attitude and said I told you I would be right there. Also they took 18% gratuity and never was told when making a reservation or even when we arrived. First time at this restaurant and definitely will be the last for us. Nikki is the worst server I've ever dealt with.
Despite living in Des Moines for 25+ years, I recently ate here for the first time ever, and the food was phenomenal! Salad bar was great - fresh and well kept. My 16oz New York strip was grilled to absolute perfection - medium rare plus; juicy, tender, and mouthwatering. (It hit the spot!) The staff was pleasant and quick as well, I might add! Overall outstanding experience and look forward to coming back again!
I really liked this place. There is ample parking and the place is huge. The salad bar is plentiful and has a lot to offer and the service was great. However, I ordered the 10 oz Sirloin and it had a really good flavor but was rather tough. I will return and eat here again. I would have given them 4.5 stars but it was not an option.
We were very disappointed as it was our first time there. My sirloin steak was very chewy. My boyfriends steak was served under cooked. The salad bar had VERY limited toppings. We both expected the best and thats not what we found. However the staff was very nice and had his steak put back on the grill. If your looking for a nice steak dinner this is NOT the place.
We had a nice meal here. The service was great, but wait staff was so busy. The food was pretty good. Cook preferences on the steaks we're a bit rare for one and a bit too done for another but the other two were good. Fries and steak topper mushrooms were a bit too heavy with the salt. Salad bar was ok. Prices were more expensive than reflected online for example, bacon wrapped filet was $28.95 online and $33.95 on the menu. Overall a good meal.
The service was great and we never had to wait for service at any time during our meals.You have to get their Buffalo wings and artichoke dip. The garlic bread actually tasted of garlic and so a nice balanced spread.The steaks was nicely marbled and very tender, I did not even need steak sauce. Fantastic and juicy. Try their 20 oz steaks!!
