You definitely feel that there is intention behind each dish and in creating a beautiful and welcoming space! Our server was well-informed about the menu and went out of her way to help with questions related to food sensitivities. The dishes were beautiful and so flavorful. We had an amazing dinner experience. Highly recommend supporting this local restaurant and its people!
Oh my goodness! Easily my favorite meal in Des Moines. We went for happy hour and I couldn't be happier. The service was great, every one was so nice! I thought portion sizes were great for the price. Food quality was amazing. If you go and don't get the steamed buns you're doing it wrong!Overall I would highly recommend going here especially for happy hour! I can't wait to go back.
Dined here for our anniversary celebration and ordered the chef's tasting menu - we have never had such an excellent progression of perfectly layered plates in all of our travels! Each dish built upon the preceding dish, so while each individual dish had such depth and pairings of flavors and textures, the subsequent dish would excellently complement its predecessor. My husband doesn't like mushrooms and had to fight the urge to lick the plate. We were pleasantly surprised by the halibut preparation and the lamb dish, plus the pineapple dessert (with multiple forms of pineapple desserts towered on top of one another). Portion sizes were perfect especially for a multi-course tasting. We also tried the bourbon cocktail with ginger and cardamom which was very tasty. Greg was our waiter and was wonderful, along with the rest of the restaurant team! Great ambiance, excellent service, and the best food - we will be back!
What a gastronomic experience. Perfection is how I can describe it. I ordered the 5 course chef's tasting menu and it was a wave of flavors. The service was very friendly and they were very knowledgeable about the menu in general.
This was an amazing experience. We did the chefs caring tried some wines that I would’ve never experienced and the food was just beautifully delicious! Highly recommend this for a date night!
Had the 7-course Valentine's Day menu tonight. Took nearly 2 hours to finish everything, but definitely an experience to remember. A cavalcade of delicacies. From caviar, to lobster, truffles, & even Wagyu beef.. what more could you ask for? Stellar service is the cherry on top.
My wife and I went for the chef’s tasting menu. It was our first trip to Harbinger and we will definitely be back! From the cocktails to dessert the entire experience was delicious. Flavors, textures, and presentation were outstanding. Compliments to the chef and the whole staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

Some of the best service we have ever received in the Des Moines area. I would definitely recommend coming with a group of 4 people like we did so that you can share multiple dishes! Hands down our biggest recommendations are the carrot dumplings, the steamed buns and the Ox tail. All of the dishes we ordered were so creative and unique in flavor. Worth every penny and again our server was amazing! Will be back for sure!
Everything about this place is fantastic, nothing else to say. We did the tasting menu along with some other items between my wife and I and were floored with what we had to eat. Service is top notch, open kitchen concept is cool, just an overall great experience. To be honest, we even had some items that we didn't particularly enjoy, to be expected in a tasting, and they still deserve 5 stars based on the ones we did. I guess there was more to say, do yourself a favor and go indulge.
