This is the best place I have ever been too. Best beers best time. Atmosphere is impeccable. The staff is the best. This will go down as my favorite place of all time I am not kidding. After a few beers here I promise you will not have a bad day.
The best beer selection in Des Moines we’ve found. Constantly rotating taps of new beers weekly. Great food and atmosphere. Owners and wait staff are super attentive and great to chat with- very beer knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Often have live music & bingo. Pet friendly on the patio and right off a bike trail. 6/5 stars
LOVE this place. GREAT hours of operation. GREAT staff. GREAT owners. GREAT music. GREAT vibes. Just an overall dope place to mosey downstairs from my apt and kick it. Very respectable when it comes to requests. They will always meet your needs to the best of their capabilities. The food and drink options at cherry on top. Keep beast moding guys! Will forever recommend you all.
Great spot if you want a fun, lively environment with a great beer selection! I LOVE the patio at Craft Bru and think it’s in a great location just south of W. MLK in downtown DSM! They have live music many weekends, different events going on during the weekdays, and great service. The owners are so fun to chat with and really want the best experience for their customers! They rotate the beer selection pretty often so you can try new brews when you go!
I'm struggling with my star rating on this one...if I could go 3.5 that would be ideal. But I'm giving them the benefit here because overall the experience was good. This is a very nice taproom even for a guy who isn't a huge beer consumer these days. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was very pleasant. They have a good selection of beers on tap and the use of mobile technology here for ordering is always a plus in 2022. The fact they aren't exclusively offering beer and also have cocktails available is definitely a plus in my opinion. The menu here was more the issue for me personally. Totally respect that they want to have limited menu options (chips, dips, pretzels, charcuterie....) and focus on the beverages. We had the spinach artichoke dip and it was perfectly fine.My biggest issue was with fairly prominently proclaiming to be offering "Detroit style thick crust pizza". Seeing it so prominently touted that way would generally lead one to believe they make these pizzas in house. I could see a pizza at the bar that someone had ordered and it looked pretty good from a distance. It doesn't look terrible in my own photo. And not that it tasted horrible either...it was fine. But it didn't "wow" and just seemed more like a frozen pizza and not made fresh. This became very apparent with my second piece that was more from the middle...the sauce was still cold. When our server brought our next order of drinks, I inquired if they made the pizzas "in house". She smiled and chuckled and basically confirmed my suspicions - it's just a frozen pizza they throw in an oven.Look, I'm not specifically faulting a place if they want to be primarily a "bar" and offer frozen pizza as an "upgrade" option from chips and other snacks. Plenty of bars do that and there's nothing wrong with it. But where those other places differ in that offering is that you generally know that it's frozen pizza because they will have a sign or the menu will tell you "Brand X pizza served here". And they generally aren't charging you "fresh" pizza prices for it either. This "Detroit style" frozen pizza was $16.Maybe I'm being overly critical, maybe I just had my hopes up for trying their take on "Detroit style" pizza. But I feel like I was misled into thinking this would be fresh pizza and being served an average frozen pizza was just disappointing.
First time there, but I'll be back! Great selection on tap. I was only there for a couple of drinks, but can't wait to try the pizza!
Nice little beer joint. They have games you can play, they have music bingo. Good beer specials. Owners are nice and attentive. Only complaint is the atmosphere is a bit sterile. They need more decor or something to keep your attention. A bit like having a beer in your elementary school cafeteria.
It is painfully obvious that we just paid $16 for a frozen pizza. Very nice people running the place and had a nice beer.
Great selection of brews and laid back vibe. I will definitely be going back this weekend!
What a great place for a craft brew. The service was excellent. The owner knowledgeable and I can't give it more than 5 stars. Stop in if you are close is my recommendation
