It sure feels good to have Chuck's open again. Frosty was ice cold and tasty!! Brought back a lot of good memories! Had dinner in the music room, they had a live band. Food was great, atmosphere relaxing, and the music was wonderful! And, the staff was efficient and pleasant. Thank you for a really nice evening!
One of the oldest and best fire brick oven pizzas around. Onion rings on point, very friendly staff, tons of seating and even sometimes live entertainment. They also participate in art shows and the Iowa sweetcorn festival. Chuck's is a must!
Newly renovated. Fantastic food and friendly staff. Great service. Have live music and karaoke on certain nights. Known for their thin crust pizza and handmade onion rings. Definitely worth checking out!
We love Chucks, been getting pizza here all my life but I have to ask, what has happened to the pizza. It is not the same as before, the sauce is different and the sausage was not put on in pieces it was grounded all over the pizza. It was not as good as it has been forever, is there a new pizza cook or are you using a different recipe for the sauce? It has been different since the ownership change so just asking. We will be back as we always love Chucks.
We hadn't been to Chuck's for several years due to renovations and COVID. Tonight we were not disappointed. Everything was good from the onion rings to the cocktails, the salads and the entries. We will be back
Our group heard a lot of great things about this place, unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. The place is very small and the tables are very close together. Our group ordered several appetizers to share. The onion rings were good and the fried mushrooms were the size of plums. There were a couple of us that ordered fettuccine Alfredo for our entrees. It was very bland and full of butter. We added a ton of salt and pepper to add taste along with some parmesan cheese. The chicken was rubbery and ultimately we had to send them back and the waitress took them off our check. A couple of us got pasta dishes that had marinara sauce on them. It was very watery and had no flavor and the pasta was under cooked. The highlight of the night was the pizzas that we ordered. If we had to do it over I would have gotten the pizza. After our experience tonight I have no plans to eat here again.
Great service, fair prices and our favorite thin crust pizza in Des Moines. We've been going here for years and they never disappoint. Ambiance is dated, but that's part of the charm.
This was our first time back since they reopened--2 years! The pizza was as good as I remembered: thin crust with plenty of toppings. And also enjoyed the onion rings: thin onion straws perfected fried! The interior may be updated but the food and ambience remain the same! If you haven't been, it's time to go!
It was very average food. The lasagna was barely hot and the sauce was very bland. Our server seemed very distracted and we hoped for a little more personable service. The onion rings were good but too nothing special. We had reservations and all that was fine. The Beer is super cold.
04/01/2022 We bought a house in highland park area back in January.Decided we wanted to try chucks we got 1 meat lovers and 1 Mediterranean pizzas both small. They were phenomenal. We will recommend and we will be back. Keep up the great work. Too bad you don’t serve breakfast. This was our first time at chucks.
