Delicious lasagna and very friendly staff. We'll be coming back!2022 edit: Still very good food but have to take a star off. The food has gotten very expensive. $3.45 for soda, $16 for spaghetti, $16 for a burger and fries, etc. Plus the 4% added on at the end. Staff was great still!

The food was fabulous, however the service left a sour taste in my mouth. I'll be fair we came in on a Friday night and it was busy, but I had to ask 3 different times for another drink, never did get more bread like we asked for twice. The waitress seemed like she was just too tired to do anything beyond bringing out the bare minimum of our order. Lesson learned, go back on a day when it's dead.

This is one of those old school establishments that I hope never goes away. I have never been disappointed here food or service wise. They have been around for a long time for a reason. I have had the pleasure of dining here for dates, family, large group service, and wedding receptions and have had a wonderful time each time. Order the onion rings if you like a mountain of thinly sliced onions that are breaded and fried to perfection. A true gem in Des Moines and Central Iowa. It is worth the wait on busy nights, but just go a but early if possible. This is a popular spot for local proms and family get togethers. We had Craig as our server tonight and he was everything we needed while handling our almost one year old and celebrating my wife's birthday. Cheers to many more years of operation!

Christopher's we love going, service lately very slow. Waiting is one thing but waiting with no drinks other than water is annoying. Had to ask two of the last 3x there too have music turned down to have a conversation at our table.

Can't give a completely fair review since I went there for the tiramisu and they were out, but the food was good and service at the bar was acceptable. Make a reservation if you don't like being really close to others. The bar tables are quite crowded.

This place is the ultimate old-style Italian restaurant. No froofy cutting-edge cuisine. Great value, top-notch service, huge portions, and classic feel. If that's not what you're in the mood for, that's OK. But if you want comfort food like what used to be available all over Des Moines, this is the place for you. Bravo to the Giudicessi family (photos of whom are all over the place). Keep up the good work, folks!

We visited Christopher's on Valentines Day. We were seated in the first dining room, which quite frankly has zero atmosphere. In hindsight, we should have just sat in the bar area, which had character. We ordered the Boursin Mushrooms for an appetizer, which were good. For dinner we had the Chicken Parmigiana, which was not so good. The noodles were well overcooked and the red sauce was extremely bland. The chicken itself was good. Service was very good. The do add a 3.99% non-cash surcharge to your bill, which I'm definitely not a fan of. Overall, prices are very reasonable for the food, the alcohol is a little pricey compared.

Our first return visit since our hometown Wedding Rehearsal Dinner here 40 years ago (moved out of state a year later)...food great: fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and classic lasagna (enough to take back to relative's house for another meal for each of us), nice service. DSM has a lot of very good Italian restaurants (and some have disappeared).

Usually I dont give reviews but I have to now, Chistiphers is one of our vaverite places to eat and our last adventure was some what medioker I guest, I had Renees chicken w hot peppers and cheese, excelent w fries and I asked if the had slaw but no but thats ok had house salad. I originally ash for ribs on the menu, dont have any more but thats not the complant, Daryl aka brother n law had a man hatten w xtra cherries, first drink was not good and got second remade was better but off a little and hes fusy abut his stuff, that through off his dinner the rest of the noght, next Denise got prime rib and was to pink sent back and then was tough and cooled down to much brought most home,Patrick got his noodle alfrato shimp no complants there and brough 1/2 home and ate later, now if daryl s having a bad night everybodes going to have bad night. This was a Saturday evening and busy our waitres was great and very attentive to us trying to please and make it right and our guy that brought drinks and my ice tea was also very atentive to us but all in all I enjoied the night as always.I did miss Renee being there I love talking to her an she usually come round to say hey and sees that all is ok, the woman that was encharge was busy tending other guest seating them and had party attending them. Will we go back you betcha over and over and in all I dont know if the cook was having off night but Denise prime had no seasoning that she expected normally.so in conclution Daryl and Denise had bad night and Patrick and I had a great night. Still rate them number one in my book. Thank you,oh ps we didnt have our faverite waiterus os set in the back room and we had six but 2 couldnt come.again Thanks for your service.

Not much for parking when busy. Small and tight spots.
