On April 13th was my mom’s funeral and we reserved the party room for around 40 people. We ended up with about 90. The staff was a little overwhelmed at first but stepped to the occasion, did a great job getting everyones food and drinks in a timely matter! Food was wonderful as ALWAYS & staff attitudes were positive & upbeat! Hill Top definitely turned a large chaotic start into the perfect end to the celebration of her life!. Thank you so much!!
My family has been coming here for many years, probably my whole life. We've never had bad service its been wonderful every time today we got take out for my mom's birthday we got a large hilltop combo togo and it hit the spot! Thank you for providing delicious food for my family over the years!
I have always been a fan of hilltop but 5 of us went in Saturday night and they wanted to sit us at booth with chair on the end which would of been to crowded so we left. Although the 2 large tables were empty we could not sit there because there was not 7 in our party. Tonight we orderedd pizza and rings to go waited 20 minutes only 1 lady working area walked out. They have went downhill.
Awesome food and Awesome service! Taylor was our server and she was Outstanding! She was very personable and right on top of everything.The food was fresh and hot. The selection is great too. Prices are also very fair.If you haven't already given them a try, I highly recommend that you do. You won't be disappointed!!! Yum!!!
This place is a East Des Moines Legend! The pizza, the prime rib, the streaks, the chicken, and the pasta are all winners in my books. You can't go wrong. I just wish they brought the fish back it was delicious.
We had a very pleasurable dining & party experience. Wonderful server, & our steak dinner was delicious. We celebrated a good friends 90th birthday after our meal & had a piece of cherry cheesecake that was delicious as well. Highly recommend it, in fact so impressed we are booked for their Valentine's dinner this Saturday for Prime Rib.

Everything about our dinner was on point, the perfectly cooked onion rings, pasta dishes delicioso, our server was attentive and friendly. And we were also very thankful they were still open in nasty weather.
We have family north of here so we now make a point to eat here when we pass through Des Moines from Texas and back. Down home family style food and they make you feel welcome even if you are not a regular.
Went to lunch here on Monday and had a strange experience. Our server was amazing and she seemed to be the only one doing anything front of house. The other server was very rude to us and the initial wait to be seated was a tad ridiculous. My friend and I shared a small order of onion rings that were great. And the creamy parm dressing for our side salads was as good as it has always been. We each had a meatball sandwich that was decent but left us both feeling kinda ill after. Maybe old meat or sauce. Overall, this place isn't what it used to be but because I have been going here my whole life, I will probably give it another try. Just no meatball sandwiches. Haha.
