I am not a sushi guy by all means; however, my friends are. They guys accommodated my meal and cooked up some crab into my roles. It was delicious by all means. All the other food that friends got, looked extremely well prepared and presented. I am yet to hear anything bad about this place. Worth a try.
This is my favorite sushi place! The staff are amazing and the sashimi and sushi are really good. My friends and I love this place and we come back here quite often.
I really liked the calming, quiet atmosphere. There were walls that were huge murals based on japanese culture. My shrimp tempura was awesome, the white rice was great. My mom ordered pulled pork, which was also very good. 10/10 would recommend.Although, they use the same fryer for food and seafood. So people with seafood allergens, either dont go, or order something that's not fried, which not hard.I still would like to go for lunch again tho.
I stopped in over the noon hour on Thursday. Such a great lunch spot downtown. I ordered the salmon bento box, and the salmon was cooked perfectly. So delicious! Great service here too. Would highly recommend.
This is the most weird server I have ever met. When We entered the restaurant, He pointed one seat for us to sit. I usually choose to sit close to the window, so I asked if we could sit by the window.The server refused and kept saying "I'm the only server today so it's convenient for me to serve you if you sit here. Can you understand me?" For at least five times without a pause to give us a time to reply.We felt being pushed all the time during our meal. He spoke really fast and not clearly. His sorry is without apology at all.We can understand his situation But we cannot accept his attitude "can you understand me?" We customers do have the right to choose where to sit, right?Foods there is just ok. They don't have noodles but why put it on the menu. We were there to have noodles, sad about that.
Best sushi restaurant in Des Moines. I usually go here for sushi, their sushi taste amazing! I always get good services from them, never have bad experience.
The food was good, and drinks were great. The staff is a lot of fun and provided us a positive experience.
We were visiting our son at college and wanted to try someplace new. And were blown away. Absolutely amazing. We sat at the sushi bar. And had great conversations with the guys. The food was incredible the atmosphere was awesome. And the drinks were off the chains. Definitely recommend whether your a local or just visiting.
The happy hour was very amazing. The server was very nice and friendly. Gave is 4 sake bombs on the house. Will definitely go back.
Akebono has been a favorite of mine for years. I stopped in with friends recently and it's as good as ever. Staff do a great job and the sushi is among the best in town.
