We stopped in after the Jr. Bix 7 and dinned in the courtyard. We had the flatbread appetizer, cauliflower dinner, and a traditional hamburger, all were delicious…the flatbread alone was very satisfying. The service was exceptional and I was blown away by how great our hostess was. If you haven’t been here you should, if you’re not hungry the drinks alone are second to none in the area. I recommend the courtyard on a nice day.

The food had no taste and the steak was rubbery. I gave the owner, Matt Osborn my opinion and he cursed at me and told me to get out of his restaurant. As I was getting into my car, one of his waiters took down my license plate number because he thought I left without paying. I will never go back and will never recommend Matt Osborn's restaurant.

First visit to The Half Nelson. Very nice and clean establishment. Our server was excellent. I ordered the salmon and my wife ordered the shrimp and grits. Our son in law ordered the brisket burger and our daughter the shrimp and grits as well. The only downside of the meal was our son in laws burger was over cooked. Otherwise all the other meals were excellent. The drinks were very good as well. We will go back.

Good cocktail menu + even better food menu. Scallops Capellini was perfectly fresh + light tasting. The B*tch Be Cool could have been a HAIR sweeter, but not by much. All around wonderful dining experience + will absolutely be back.

Great food and environment although the prices are a little high

We were excited to visit The 1/2 Nelson. A couple in our group recommended and we had a reservation for 5:30 for six people before an Adler event. When we arrived the hostess a woman with long dark hair greeted us with a frown and informed us that she had given our table away because we were late. We were late and that isn’t the issue because we were and that is on us. She acted angry at us, was extremely rude, and we all agreed we would not be back because if that is a sample of their service then no thank you. First impressions are important! She also had the phone number of our friend who made the reservation, but never called to see if we were coming, so what is the point of taking the number. We ended up going to a place in the East Village and had a great time and our waitress was great. We will return there. That hostess needs some education on etiquette and how to treat people. Maybe sorry our policy is…… so we gave your table away. We handled with class, she should have done the same.

Food is a 10 out of 10, service is a zero out of 10. Our service was Maddie and she needs to go back to waitress school. She is absolutely horrible, if I knew she was going to be my waitress the next time I went I would never go again. I could go into everything that she needs to improve on but not going to waste my time.

Half Nelson is my favorite special occasion restaurant. It’s a little more upscale/pricey than I would go to for a regular casual dinner, but it’s a once a month must. The pecan chicken is my stand by, but for my birthday I got the steak and lobster and it didn’t disappoint. Drinks are great, the steak flatbread is the best appetizer and the Crème brûlée dessert was amazing! I also appreciate the ability to make reservations, and the layout of the restaurant never feels a overwhelming in a pandemic life. Service is always great as well.

I've been to The Half Nelson 3 times now, and each experience has been fantastic! The drinks are always super good, and the food is just amazing. I've gotten the white fish with lemon sauce as well as the steak filet. Also, their mushroom risotto is out of this world! Their desserts are also yummy! To top all of the amazing food off, the service is impeccable (shout out to Jeremy)! Lastly, the ambience is unique in the best way. 5/5 highly recommend this place if you are wanting good food that is reasonably priced. This place is great for special occasions but also for just getting some excellent food!

Ate there for a company get together and had to drive from Peoria. Was definitely worth the drive. The food was excellent. The menu isn't large and I can actually appreciate that. It was a large group so almost everything on the menu was ordered. Everyone had nothing but praise for their meals. If I had to make one critique, it's with the bar. I ordered an old fashioned for desert. As an avid whiskey/bourbon drinker, it really annoys me when I get a glass full of crushed ice. I would highly recommend getting an ice ball/large cube maker for those types of drinks. Would really set you apart from the competition. They still get a 5 star because the bartender made the drink perfectly (we were sitting across from the bar so I got to watch him make it :) ).
