First time eating here. Our service was very prompt and we even had someone being trained. She was very pleasant and kept a watch on us for anything we needed. I had their mac n cheese and mashed potatoes with chicken gravy. It was delicious and very filling. My friend had the special for the day which was a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes in the center and covered in your choice of brown or chicken gravy. Very good food, nice portions, great waitstaff, food cooked to perfection and prices fairly reasonable. I'd eat there again and highly recommend.
I called in a order, we wanted to add a burger took 4 phone calls and 7 minutes to add the burger to our order. I get to the counter and my first order is there but she didn't add my other item and says "I forgot" so she hands me my first order and says it will be ten minutes. I asked her to remake the whole order as I do t want cold food. She says I guess we could do that. Then tried to give me my first order ice cold. I'm done
Great service usally do breakfast tried dinner same great service liver and onions with mash potatoes and brown gravy so close to moms wife's steak was perfect just the way she likes it and she's picky give them try if you haven't
Not a good experience . I ordered a steak medium rare . When it came to the table I cut into it and it looked well done or gray to me and the waitress. She apologized and took it back to the kitchen. She then returned with a person that in so many words told me ther is nothing wrong with the seak it is just fine it must be the lighting . I come to find out it was the owner Kathy. Needless to say I tried to eat the steak . I could not eat the steak it was not good and was in fear of getting sick from it .. The best part of the meal was the rolls and as far as i know they don't even make them in house. And who puts white onions in sour cream ? The waitress was embarrassed as was I . She did an awesome job. So I tip her very well. The steak expert not so much. I will take my business elsewhere .
Love this place but was very disappointed with the food. Had grilled chicken sandwich with salad. Tasted like precooked frozen plate of yuck.
I go to Harlans because as a widow it is one restaurant that I am comfortable going to alone. But on Friday 1/21/2022 that was not the case. I was seated right away and one of the young girls that cleans the tables quickly brought me a drink. Then I sat there 10 minutes waiting fir axwaiterss to take my order she then went to a table seated after me was talking to them laughing and took their order went behind the counter and put their order in. Brought out their soup and salads stood there another couple minutes talking then came to take my order. Brought my food out and amazing enough it was hot then I heard her telling the other table about strawberry short cake and if they wanted any I was just about done with my meal and thought I would like some dessert but I wasn't asked she just put the ticket down and walked away. I would have said something to the cashier but she was to busy talking to her family who came in to have dinner. She didn't even ask me if everything was alright. And both these employees have been there a long while I have seen them often when I have gone in these past 3 years I have been alone.
Been coming nearly every week for the past few weeks. Won't ever return! Tonight was a huge disappointment. We got there at 8:52 pm, closing time is 9:00 pm. The Hostess asked one of the waitress' if we could have dinner and she said we close at 9:00. I said so does that mean we can stay or not. She was so irritated right from the start and said I don't know. While she is still in the dining room, loudly she asked one of the cooks who was in the kitchen if we could eat. He replied yes, and she told the hostess in a sour tone, "he said yes, so I guess so", The hostess told us to sit on the other side of where she was not waitressing. We get seated and I hear that waitress loudly say, I already cleaned my pop machine and something else. The Hostess then comes by and ask us what we would like to drink. I said well obviously she (waitress) has a problem with us being here. Should we just leave? She said no, it will be a different waitress over here. I said, I will just take water and the other guy said he would have tea. A few minutes had passed and the next thing we know a different cook comes to our table and said, "the other Chef did not know that everything was already put away and we can't serve you". I was appauld! We walked out the front door and watched through the window that Cook telling the hostess and someone else about him getting us out. They were both laughing and carrying on like it the most hilarious thing ever! We have been coming his nearly every week to support this small independent restaurant and to get this treatment is unacceptable to me.
Is was impressed with my meal everything was cooked great and service was excellent,I have been in food service 53 years it is awesome that these folks care about the customer,thanks again
Harlan's has been operating in West Davenport for 60 years. You can think of it as the Ross's of West Davenport. They serve breakfast all day, their produce has always been fresh and the pie\cake is good. Harlan's also does fried chicken and offer it as take-out certain weeknights. If you need a meal in West Davenport and you'll get a good meal from Harlan's.
Went there a couple days ago. Place wasn’t very busy but still took the waitress forever to take my order. Salad was old and there was a piece of hair in it. They have these border things at the top of the booths which appear to have never been cleaned. The only nice thing about that place was this Young Hispanic girl who was very friendly and got a drink for me right away. The people who bring out drinks looked stressed and the waitresses don’t seem to help them at all!
