We visited this restaurant when we were in town for our grandson’s college graduation. We could not have been more pleased with the service or the food. We were in a large group and everything was handled very well. Everyone we were with left talking about how pleased they were with food and service.
After a couple years of faithful business, i have to say recently i have been disappointed in the service and respect that some of the waiters have here. I feel as if how much time and money has been spent being customers for the past 2 and a half years that now a certain waiter has been unfaithful and disrespectful to us too many times. Overall the food is great and the managers are amazing but it might be time we take a second glance at the wait staff here.
Four of us went to Duck City to celebrate a significant birthday. Another person in our group has been battling severe illness and I requested an out of the way table when making reservations. We arrived at 5:00 for our reservation and were seated in what I would call the annex - a private room to the side. Chef Jeremy gave us the verbal menu for the day - so many great choices! Our server, Hannah answered all our questions and we ordered appetizers - That Chicken, Crab Cakes and Portobello Mushrooms. All were excellent and very large portions. Entrees included Filet Mignon, Thai Chicken, Roast Duck and Filet Melissa. Once we finished appetizers the house salad was brought to the table - a large and very good salad with house garlic dressing. The main meal arrived, Hannah returned shortly to be sure all was perfect - which it was. The steaks were tender and cooked perfectly. The Thai Chicken was very large, served with Peanut Sauce on a bed of rice, the Duck looked like half a bird and was very tasty. We all took home enough food for an excellent lunch the next day. Now for a word about Chef Jeremy and his restaurant. We are not regular customers but I asked for a table in an out of the way spot. Not only was our request honored - we were given a private room which could have seated 40 more people. If you are looking for great food then this is probably the best in the Quad Cities. If you are looking for a gracious host, you will likely not find any better.
I had to ask for a menu when our waiter asked what we wanted to drink or eat. I order a martini and it was great so I ordered another but the 2nd one came back different. The waiter said oh the bartender put pineapple juice in the last one so that's why it looked different. Thank goodness I wasn't allergic. In looking at the menu for food I notice there are no prices for their entrees. I was embarassed but asked how much the filet mignon was. The waiter answers $50 to $60 range. I thought it was odd I couldn't get a solid price. I order the filet and it comes back medium well Not Medium that I requested. I told waiter I needed something off the bill. The waiter said they would take off $10 off my meal. I said No that won't work for me and I said at least $20 off would make me happy. We get the bill and I got my $20 off my filet mignon but looked at the price of the filet and it was $68.00 NOT in the $50 to $60 range as waiter informed us. Gee this was an 8 ounce filet. I can't imagine the price if I had ordered their 10 or 12 ounces I could of ordered. I also was disappointed that I had no choice of salad. They serve a garlic salad with way too much dressing. I will not be going back for a long time. If you plan to go there plan on spending $300 for a meal for 3 people.
Just had dinner and dessert here this evening. Thoroughly impressed with the food and the service. Chef Jeremy's personal guide through his menu was very much appreciated and did influence my menu choice. I wasn't sure what to think when my company was sending me to Davenport on business. But the hotel and this restaurant were as upscale as you can get! The nice folks from Davenport will show ya "What's-What" fer sure. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Jeremy! First time visiting this evening. Ordered jalapeño veal, and it was amazing! Also ordered a mango habanero martini that was excellent! Both were the greatest combo of sweet and spicy! Main room was packed and would have been too loud for me, but luckily, we were in the side room with the wall of windows, and it was lovely! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
Mara and Doug have been amazing servers- but honestly I've never received anything less than stellar service at Duck City. Their specials are always worth taking a chance! Frites are a must. I keep coming back and 11/10 would recommend
I can’t say enough, ridiculous, I think is the right word, service was horrible, they sat us upstairs, ugly ambiance, nothing on tables, sat next to obnoxious couple with 3 kids, took at least 20 minutes to get a cocktail, to top it off there weren’t any prices on main entrees, I’ve never had crab legs that cost $157! & they were mushy, I asked if they were split, he said yes, they were barely cut down the side. Horrible, don’t go! What a waste of $350+ for 2 people
First time in Iowa all the way from NJ and a friend recommended Duck City. All I have to say is one of the best meals I ever had !!! From the minute we walked in and the Chef greeted us and told us what the specials were to our waitress everything was on point. If your ever in the area def stop in u will not be disappointed.
Best restaurant in the state of Iowa. Service was great , shrimp cocktail and fries were great to start, filet Melissa style cooked to perfection. They don’t make restaurants like this anymore with the old classical ambience. A must try in Davenport
