*EDIT*The response from the owner suggests I email to explain my experience. I just told them what my experience was and predicted the response.The owner will say how sorry they are for our experience. Believe me when I say WE are sorry for not trusting the honest reviews. The 5 stars seem a little generous.Take a hard pass on the chimichangas. Ordered 4 burritos. 2 were supposed to be chimichangas. Folks, they are using a sandwich press or grilling the burrito. This is supposed to be a deep fried burrito. You can see the diagonal grill marks. $13 burrito and it's the thinnest burrito I have seen. Closer to a fat quesadilla than burrito. Lacked flavor as every flavorless bite didn't have a chance to fight it's way thru the soggy tortilla if in fact there was any flavor. Wasted $25 to bring you this review. Zero value. Price point should be closer to $8 per plate and that's if you dine in. I'll try a different Mexican restaurant next time. Spent over $50 for 4 burritos. Can't justify a second visit.
Have enjoyed La Mesa for many years. Fajita Nachos was awesome & enough for 2 meals at least! I am gluten-free & my mother is low sodium. They serve many dishes using corn shells which resolves my issues, but would like to see more than a salad for low sodium options. A plain burger with no seasoning is what she usually can get, but we did not see this here, although the salad was filling for her, just no protein option.

I usually love visiting this restaurant and have nothing but good reviews. However, this last time I visited I met up with a family member for dinner and both of us had contracted Norovirus. After doing some investigating of possible places we could have gotten it, the restaurant is the only place possible due to the fact that it is the only place we were together. The service was great while we were there, but I think this experience speaks volumes in the cleanliness and lack of precautions taken to avoid spreading illnesses, which is incredibly important. I tried to contact the restaurant directly to report the issue and bring awareness to the fact that proper hand washing and cleaning of surfaces needs to be addressed, but my phone calls went unanswered. I truly hope this review reaches the right people and the issue gets handled and no one else gets sick.

Love this place. My mom and I went for dinner. The server was friendly. We didn’t have to wait forever to get our food . The food was delicious. Thank you . Great experience. We will be coming back.
First time eating here and was pleasantly surprised!Service was good, waiter was quick to respond to us, order was taken correctly, kept our glasses full, cleaned up the table in a timely fashion.Food was pretty typical Mexican restaurant food. I would say it was pretty good! Cheese dip and salsa were very pleasant for all ages! Chips were done well, warm without being burnt, lightly salted. Kids meal had a good variety on it. My 5 year old had the nachos from it. The plate was large and full. No way he could even think of finishing them! Other entree's were good sized also. Rice was AMAZING!ONLY down side was it was just a tad on the pricey side for 4 eaters. Just under $80 for cheese dip, chili cheese fries, 3 adult entree's, 1 kids plate, and 1 soda. Not terrible expensive but definitely not a cheap dinner either. That's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.Would absolutely recommend and will likely stop again in the future!
This is the most beautiful establishment. We come here very often and have had the best customer service. The staff is amazing, always smiling, helpful, and very thorough in taking care of their guests. The owners and managers are so amazing. Our favorite waitress is the best lady named Marybelle. She has went above and beyond to be professional and friendly at her job. Food is amazing. All the folks that work here work as a team to take care of their patrons, and they all deserve to be recognized as wonderful staff. This establishment is the best place to take your family and friends for outings and occasions. If it’s your birthday they make you feel special and loved. We will always go back for that amazing waitress at this awesome restaurant!! Thanks again for the spectacular experience.
