The reviews are true. This particular Steak ‘n Shake is amazing.I happened to be in Coralville on my way across the country on a long road trip, and ended up here. Was not disappointed, one of the best Steak n Shake experiences I’ve ever had.Double steak burger was on point, assembled with care and loaded with grilled onions. Onion rings were warm and fried to perfection, and the shake was delicious as always. 10 out of 10, A+.
Just have to say the Iowa City location knows how to do things right, unfortunately the West Des Moines location that opened this past year, not so much! It's actually quite disappointing, every time I have ever been to Iowa City, Steak and Shake is where I had to stop and eat before leaving and every single time it was great and I would wish there was one near my home, so I was extremely excited when I heard they were opening a location near where I live in WDSM. Not sure what the deal is, but I have never had a great meal or experience from this location. The staff seem irritated almost every time and I never seem to get a full patty on my hamburger, just broken pieces of meat, but last time was the worst, I had half of a patty at best and it literally tasted like a pickle sandwich since there was more pickle than meat! It really is just very disappointing.
Honestly very disappointed, the girl taking our order was very pushy as my girlfriend and I were trying to order. When we got to the window we learn that the girl didn't put in that we ordered combos and they wouldn't give us fries unless we paid more than the combo price. On top of that the milkshakes were given with paper straws that are literally falling and aren't big enough for mixed shakes like the Oreo one I ordered. Honestly hope it's better next time but for now I won't be back for a while
Friendly service and quick - We ate indoors, there was plenty of seating and the location was clean and bright. The items ordered were exactly as placed, and fresh. Plenty of parking was available, but the entrance can be a bit tricky at night. The location is easy an easy-and-off from the highway (I-80) and a pleasant stop if you need to stretch your legs and find fuel for your vehicle.
Food was delicious. Employee's seemed to be happy to be there and helping us. Prices were very reasonable. As a first time going there, I was impressed and will go again.
Food is okay, nothing special. You have to wait a while for food, and when you get it (if they didn't forget about you), it's usually wrong. The shakes are really good though, when they manage to get the order right and give you what you ordered. I usually go here just for the shakes and just pray to any and every god in existence that I get one, even if it isn't right, because that would at least be an improvement.I'm not depressed enough to give one star, but it is less than "meh" for me. Those shakes are honestly what save it from one or no stars.
We went inside and ordered from a kiosk. They had a guy calling out order numbers when the food is ready and you go to the counter to pick up. We sat down and ate and it was ok. The bun was really really dry and the fries weren't hot. The milkshake was really good though.
I have been to this location. Unfortunately, my cheeseburger was cold. Which was very weird. I went inside to let them know. One of the employee’s was rude about it. What appeared to be the Manager was more apologetic. The rude employee should have just let the Manager handle the situation since the beginning. I won’t be going back to this location. The thought of a cold cheeseburger makes me really uneasy.
Great burgers and shakes! And what goes well with that? Awesome and friendly service from everyone who was there.Always get the old school vanilla shake.
My experience was nothing but amazing here at store #365. I was met by Vinnie and later by Yun the store Manager. Both were very inviting. My friends and I dined in and got excellent customer service. Gustavo also did a terrific job on the food!! Thank you!
