The Frozen Custard saves this review. Even with no line to order at the drive through, we waited for over 15 minutes for our two custard flavor of the day and a small strawberry shake. The car behind us also waited that long for an ice cream order only. I got out of the car to go into check on our order when staff were bringing out other orders. They took our numbers and had our orders out within minutes. The custard was great - as always - but the service gets the three stars.
You can't beat Culver's for a good burger. The buns are wonderful the patties juicy and flavorful. I don't really like crinkle fries but it's a personal preference. The frozen custard comes in so many flavors and they offer a flavor of the month. A ton of soda and beverage choices, it's hard to decide! Ice tea is a box mix so not the best. Outside seating is offered and off the street parking. Fun thing for the kids to participate in like birthday parties and clubs.
This specific Culver’s has a talent for making a concrete which is entirely vanilla (if that’s your base custard) for the final 1/3 of the concrete. I’ve only had three concretes from this location, since I keep telling myself not to return but end up doing so out of proximity. That said, my three concretes have been ordered over a period of two or three years, so I feel it is safe to assume that this is standard fare at this location, rather than a rogue employee endeavoring to ruin my experience. Perhaps their machine is broken (water’s cold…can’t tell if it’s deep), or perhaps it is a management issue…anyway, the Iowa City location will have you tasting toppings to the end, so I advise you to look there. I’ve never had actual food here, so I can’t speak to that. It must be better than 2/3 good.
Always seem to have issues with this location. Most recently I was given the wrong item in the drive thru, husband walked it back inside and kid behind the counter asked for our receipt, which we had not been given, then proceeded to try and tell us what we had ordered. Husband got frustrated and gave up, after explaining the person taking the order had read it back correctly and the employee responding “you must have heard him incorrectly”.
We have come to this location several times before and had good service. Today was not so. As we walked up I heard a couple walking out with a to go order saying let's check our order to make sure we got what we ordered. Reason number 1 we should have gone somewhere else. As we enter I watch another customer telling staff I'm still waiting on the missing item with my meal. Reason number 2 we should have gone somewhere else. However, we stayed. We ordered 6 meals for myself, my wife and our 4 kids.We were shorted an entire meal. Oh did I mention we were here, because this is where our daughter wanted to eat for her birthday meal. She was the meal shorted. I went up and told staff what we were missing. I was told by the manager I'll have it out in two minutes. Eight minutes later I go back up still not ready. They finally make it a priority and I get an I'M SORRY.I don't know what else to say, but this makes me really not want to stop there ever again. I know no one in upper management will ever see this and nothing will change, but at least I said my peice.
Drive thru is really slow. We went inside and food was just waiting to be bagged. Employees were not busy. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Afterwards they still didn’t bring the food out and I called an employee over.
Food is good, fresh. Service courteous, pleasant. Will definitely be back
WORST Concrete mixer I have ever had. I ordered a strawberry cheesecake mixer. It had very little strawberry & cheesecake & was not mixed well. Top half was vanilla custard only. Very disappointed.
Walked over from our hotel, walked in, went to counter to order. Were told dining room closed at 7 pm. We said we'd just order to go, but were told we'd have to go through the drive-thru. Again, we WALKED OVER IN THE RAIN. Kid at counter was a smart aleck, hours posted on door showed 10 am to 10 pm. We will NEVER go to ANY Culver's again!
This Coralville Iowa location needs better help and has Terrible customer service!I ordered at the drive thru a cookie doughconcrete mixer and it was not even close to being done right!This was at 3:15pm on 1/30/22The mixer should at least have something else in it besides just custard with No cookie dough!I came back to the drive thru and explained kindly and specifically why I was Not happy with the mixer!I also stated I wanted a new mixer made again!The team lead girl was terrible at her job because she told me that this Coralville location does not replace items if a customer is not happy!Well since she REFUSED to help me and could not do anything else nor her jobI said I wanted to talk to her manager on duty and not her!She also refused to go get the REAL manager !So I said I’m never coming back to this restaurant and for her to give me my money back in which she had to go ask the other person In the back if she could do so!?!Really ??She’s yelling at me because she’s not even sure if she can give me MY money back to me!!!!I also explained to her that customer serviceis to be of service to the customernot to be pleasing the employee (her)When a customer is not happy whether it be a food , beverage or custard item they should be able to have it replaced!I know that other Culvers locations do not treat their customers this way !I’ve been in Customer Service a long time and I do know this is not how you keep good customers and have customers keep returning!I’m from a family farm here in Iowa and for Culvers beliefs this is not looking good!This is Not Practicing Kindness nor is it Doing the Right thing at all which is on your Own Culvers Website
