I lived in Iowa City for six years and recently moved back to find this cool little bar called Hooks! I felt like I was still in Iowa City in the best way possible, the décor was awesome, the red lighting was cool, and both of the bartenders working were amazing! They gave us a tour of the place, recommended drinks, and told us about all the upcoming things happening there! We felt very welcomed in a place we had never been, and we plan on going back soon!
So today we were in search of a nice brunch, but we started pretty late.We stopped at a few of our favorite places and they were closed.A friend of mine had posted a few nice photos and reviews of Hook's so we decided to give it a try.Wow, I was seriously impressed.The menu, the service, and the food were all on point.We tried the Bearcat fries, Reuben, and cod were absolutely cooked perfectly.Price was very reasonable as well.If you are looking for something new, give them a shot.I've heard the Mega Bloody Mary is incredible!
HUGE outdoor patio!!! Love that there's enough space out there to have an intimate conversation or gather with a small group of friends, without sharing the entire experience with others. Friendly staff and decent draft selection. Great summer destination!!
The Punch Drunk Chicken Sandwich was amazeballs! Friendly bartenders. Great tap selection. I was pleasantly surprised by the side-salad - fresh spring greens.
Best best bar! Food is amazing. Drinks is great. And the people who work here are good.. also the daily specials are amazing. Only think I wished for was breakfast every day.
Truly surprised!Walked in with low expectation. Found out the kitchen has only been open for a year so I want expecting to much.The super friendly co-owner recommended the Thursday Thick burger. Was not disappointed.Smoked aioli, gouda and bacon.Great food.
Friendly staff, good atmosphere, good drinks & a really spacious back patio area that is perfect for cooling down & getting some fresh air throughout the night. Seems a bit more relaxed than some of the other bars in town on the weekends, which can be nice.
The wife and I stopped in Thursday and they had free corn beef and cabbage and it was just a nice comfortable place to relax.

Awesome time drinking and throwing Darts The bartender named Haley is absolutely gorgeous and one of my main reasons for going there lol
