We were looking for some place new to try breakfast and stumbled across J's homestyle cooking in Cedar Falls. Super cute quaint little diner with booth and table seating available. Super nice waitress. Food was all very good. Tried the pork lovers omelette, pancake, side salads and coffee and enjoyed it all.. pancake was delicious! We will be back.
On a busy Saturday morning, the wait staff served their customers with efficiency, accuracy and friendliness. Generous portions and a good value in a casual setting creates the popularity among locals and visitors alike.
J's home cooking was recommended to my group by the Dan Deery Toyota. We pulled into a full parking lot. There was one empty table available to sit at.Every dish ordered was SO GOOD!My omelet and my friends omelet were so good. My pancakes were so thick and fluffy. Thick and fluffy is hard to pull off. The pancakes taste was exceptional! When we left, the parking lot was still full. They were busy because the local customers are loyal for a reason.
Busy place. Got a table right away. Food was cooked too perfection and I was more than satisfied. Amongst the hustle and bustle of the busy day the staff where friendly and punctual.10/10 will go there again.
Visited on a weekend trip to Cedar Falls, IA. We planned on eating here one day and a different place another. The experience was so great the first visit we went back the next day; bo h days we had different breakfast foods. It was amazing! I do not think there is a bad item on the menu.. The French toast selection was delightful, the breakfast burrito with a side of sausage gravy was pack full of ingredients; the portion sizes are generous. Don't forget about the selection of Homa pastries, cookies, cinnamon rolls and pies. Daily specials available, we did not try them though. Highly recommend!
Favorable serving sizes, great flavor, decent service. It's kind of a hidden within a pretty large town. My only complaint is the server didn't really check on us much. I ran out of sugar and coffee in the carafe but never got the chance to request more.
Delicious tenderloin and tater tots. Hot beef sandwich was good, too. We both ordered 1/2 size and it was ample. Our waitress didn't put any prices on our ticket so it was difficult to see how she arrived at the total she wrote on it. Unnerving.
Came from out of town for a game and picked this place because of the great reviews. Very disappointed in the food. 2 out of 3 of our meals were cold. Mashed potatoes were dry, flavorless and cold, gravy barely warm. Steak was cooked to how we asked but very dry, flavorless and almost cold. Had to add a lot of salt and pepper to make it enjoyable. Did not get the milk for our childrens order. The food took a long time to receive so makes no sense that most of it was cold. Waitress didn’t come over in a timely manner to complain of the cold food so we just ate it so we could get going in the road.
Food was amazing and place was packed from the time We arrived until we left. There is a first come first serve moto, which is definitely something that one needs to keep in mind before arriving. The line will shock you, but the food is more than worth the wait. Get there early, you will be thankful you did.
First time here, but definitely one of the top three breakfasts we have ever had on our ventures. Cozy, quaint cafe with excellent food and service.
