Very good service and food! Atmosphere is awesome! ????
The atmosphere here is amazing and it is only topped by the food and drinks. You can tell that they take pride in what they do. I had the fish and chips and it might have been the best I've had. Another person got the buffalo mac and cheese and it was spicy but not too hot and the noodles were a perfect al dente.the third person got the pepperoni flatbread and it also had beautifully balanced flavor. The drinks pictured are the frozen Fitzgerald (alcoholic) and the other is their mocktail of the day (a blackberry lavender sour) and they were both extremely delicious. They have a high price point, but once you are there it is easy to see why. The building is beautiful and the food was divine. Our server, Sydney, was so personable and friendly and checked on us frequently enough that we were well attended to but not so much that it was too much. We were there right at 11 and they weren't super busy so I'm sure that helped but even as it began to fill up she was wonderful.I HIGHLY recommend trying this restaurant at least once.
I want to like this place and maybe I eventually will but for now I have to admit I wasn’t much impressed. GL has a prime downtown Cedar Falls location with an outdoor ‘patio’ I’m sure other establishment’s drool over. Although it can only be truely enjoyed 3 maybe 4 months of the year it was something much needed in the Cedar Valley. GLs menu is somewhat small and has their take on the usuals. On this occasion I had their take on the Cuban sandwich and my dining companion had house salad with salmon. The Cuban was dry and void of any distinguishable taste. The bread was hard and difficult to chew but the kettle chips were good. The salmon salad was nicely plated but also lacked the flavor you expected. The salmon had a Sysco feel but they didn’t advertise it’s origin. Our server was good and the place was clean. I’ll be back as I want to try their burger and maybe someday that $90 Ribeye.
We stopped here for lunch and got the brussel sprouts for an appetizer. I ordered the Cobb salad and my friend ordered the house flatbread. Initially the experience started out very good. The waitress was nice, took our drink order. However, from there, it started to go downhill. The waitress took our appetizer order, then proceeded to ask us how the Brussels were 30 seconds after they came to the table. We then ordered our entrees. Again, she asked how our food was 30 seconds after our food came. I had requested an extra side of ranch for my salad as the one that came with it was very small for a full size salad. It never came and the waitress stopped coming to check on us . After about 15 minutes of waiting, we starting trying to flag down our waitress with very little success. It took us about 7 minutes to finally get her attention. I waited another 10 minutes for the side of ranch. She only asked about drinks once and only refilled out water once, when requested it and only my friends water as she was the one that asked. And just as reference, the waitress only had 6 tables, all with 2 people so it wasn't like she was slammed busy. The brussels were good, with just a bit of heat. The flatbread was mediocre at best. It looked like frozen preformed dough, tiny amount of sauce and looked like cheese slices on the top. The salad was good sized but the crispy chicken was sparse and very dry. It looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. The cucumber slices were so thin you could literally see through them. The other toppings were sparse as well. Overall, I was not, sm not impressed with this place. The service was poor, the food was mediocre at best, and the drinks overpriced for what you get. I don't mind paying 10 bucks for a margarita but expect more than an 8 or 10 ounce glass full of ice. I will not be frequenting this establishment due to the poor service, high prices of mediocre food and over priced drinks. I would not recommend this place when right across the street is a much better place for food, whiskey river which I do frequent when I'm in the area. Or up the street at Wilbos.
We spent a great Saturday afternoon at George’s enjoying apps and craft beers. Abbie did a wonderful job of taking care of us, sharing info on their recent craft beer training, and just casual conversation. Will definitely return!
Great food, great service, great owner! Food is amazing, drinks are perfect, the staff is awesome! 10/10 recommend!!! ?
The salmon here is to due for, perfectly grilled and very flavorful. I also tried their blood orange margarita. Im usually not a fan of on the rocks margaritas but this was THE exception. I highly recommend this place. An all around great experience
Great experience and awesome food. A member of our group had a sandwich slightly over cooked and they did such an amazing job handling it. The waitstaff is kind and attentive and the cheese curds melt in your mouth.
Everything about George’s is top notch. What a fun experience from the location, to the indoor/outdoor dining room, ambience, and staff. The drinks and food were unique, refined and delicious. Everything we had we would order again. We can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend!
George’s has everything you want in a dining experience!! Kayla the bartender always takes amazing care of us, and the cocktails are the best in the cedar valley!
