To the people out there complaining about the service, when you come here the wait is expected. Have you ever noticed how hard those servers are working and how fast paced it is? How about a little compassion and patience!?
Indian tacos on Tuesdays nights are top notch, as a big guy with a big appetite 2 alone nothing else fills me up more than enough, great portions and great price.
Bar in uptown Ankeny with good food. Definitely a regulars spot it appeared. Bartender was having to do it all when we were there on a Sunday afternoon and she did well considering how busy it was. Had patty melt made on marble rye and was very good. Dining companion had wings and enjoyed them as well. Nice place to drop in for a bite.
Always feel at home here. Chow is just fine, but don't go to experience fancy quisine. Hey, it's a dive bar! But the best one around! History happens here. Great hangout after softball, volleyball, kids games, bring the kids. We come here day and night, probably twice a month on average, year round. Everybody comes here. Suits side by side with teamsters, factory dudes, anybody.
This is a cozy little local tavern. The food isn't fancy, but it's always good. The staff are friendly. It's a quiet, comfortable place to rest and have a drink.
The Clipper is best know for sure their deep fried tacos on Tuesday. But the rest of their bar food menu hits the spot too! With a jukebox and cold beer- you can’t go wrong with a trip old town Ankeny and the clipper!
Stopped in for a quick noontime bloody mary. Good n spicy! Nice homey comfortable atmosphere. Wife had a raspberry mule. Had to leave because they were going down like kool-aid.
The staff were friendly, but the food was absolutely terrible! I had the nightly special of cod filet and fries. The cod was disgusting! Little 2" flatteded triangles that had been deep fried, they were greasy sponges. Could not eat. Hubs had a burger. He had to dispose of the grease sponge bottom bun. I seriously don't understand how this place is am Ankeny staple. We will never return.
Taco Tuesday = ??The owner is a super awesome dude who is always there chatting with customers, and working with his staff and helping when ever needed.The servers and bartenders are all kind and awesome.The food is great. They are known for the tacos on Tuesdays. The nachos are super delish and a huge serving. One of the bartenders makes the salsa homemade each week-it's so good.The drinks are cheap and served in pint glasses.There is a nice little outdoor patio you can eat/drink on. It's right off the bike trail.
Food was good. Service was horrible. Was given my taco and drink and didn't see my waitress again. Waited for 20 minutes to pay.
