Love the deep dish pizza here! Please, please, please, don't expect deep dish pizza in 30 minutes or less people! It takes time, even in a comercial pizza oven to cook a deep dish pizza. 45 minutes MINIMUM. It is so worth the wait though! On this visit we had the thin crust for the first time. Gotta tell you it was absolutely fantastic as well! We also arrived late unknowingly walking in 45 minutes before closing. No dirty looks. No rushed decision. No feeling we're intruding or impeding their progress at all. Very welcoming and exactly the same service I've experienced here before. Refreshing to say the least.
We love the pizza and wings from Wig and Pen. The deep dish is delightful and the thin crust is perfect. It’s nice to be able to pickup or dine in. The bartender is always ready to help if you have to wait for the kitchen while picking up. They will even keep your order in the warmer if you need to get a beer!
No contest, the absolute best pizza in the state, and my favorite pizza of all time! Not to mention the incredible staff and enormous selection of beer and cocktails. 11/10. Do yourself a favor and give it a try! You will not be disappointed.
wonderful pizza...had flying tomato style union jack and onion rings...will definitely be back
Love Wig and Pen!Pizza is amazing. Flying tomato crust is my favorite pizza crust. Their thin crust is good too. The french fries are about as good as they get where they are both crispy and chewy. Definitely recommend!
Love thin onion rings and theirs are awesome. We had thin pizza and burger with side salad. All were great including the service. We need to get here more often as it is worth the drive to Ankeny.
I absolutely loved their pizza! Definitely the best place in Des Moines for a thick, Chicago style pizza.
5 Star Deep Dish. The Carnivore is fantastic. Carry out was ready on time and courteous. Thank you!
I've been craving some wings from the Wig and Pen Pub in Ankeny for several days now. Had my chance today, Pam went with her friend Deb to eat and play some slots in Tama so I made a beeline to Ankeny. The first photo is missing a couple wings, I just couldn't wait to start. lol The second photo a few delightful minutes later is the end result. The wings at Wig and Pen are always the best, consistently moist inside with a perfect crunchy outer. They always knock it out of the park no matter what you order, the service is always the same, the best of the best.During the last trip I ordered the reuben, I could go on and on about that, best I've ever eaten anywhere.
Best pizza in Iowa, always a treat. I rarely get it nowadays, waiting on delivery service. Fingers crossed ?
