Super fantastic ? ?. $ 14.00 Carnitas were the best flavor we have had in YEARS!! Perfect seasoning and cooking. And we are in our 60s.? to the cooks. The red sauce mild at first great mixture of seasonings then slowly heated up. Was not impressed with the one $ 6.00 Sopes but they do not make their own sopes so can't blame them. More than 5 stars ? Forgot to take pics. And of course leftovers for another meal.
I'm new in town from Colorado. I've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant. I finally tried Los Charros. Instantly a winning! Good, start to finish. My new favorite. Thanks!
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Ankeny! The food is delicious, and I love that you can opt for healthier coconut oil. They lose two stars only because this is not a good place to order take out. Despite charging you a credit card fee *and* an additional "to-go" fee, you'll still pay extra for things that would otherwise be included with your meal, such as chips/salsa, or extra tortillas for a fajita platter. Even if you do opt to pay an additional $2 for chips and salsa to-go, you'll get a tiny 6 oz cup of salsa, which isn't enough to dip even half the chips that come in the bag. If you want extra salsa, you'll have to pay even more still for an extra portion; thus nickel and diming you to death on a to-go order.
I have been coming to Los Charros for years now. I've tried other places like Guadalajara and Hildalgos even, though Los Charros has always been my go to for delicious mexican food with the family. Their menu changes on occasion but that is not a bad thing. The staff is generally friendly and quick and the food always delivered hot when I am there.
3.99% credit/debit fee!This has been a favorite place for my family since they opened. Good food. We enjoy coming here. Unfortunately, they recently hit us with a 3.99% "convenience fee" for payment with a credit or debit card. I get that places have fees they pay, and each place can make their own choice, but at least display it prominently upon entry so I can choose. No one told me about it and their were no signs - it just appeared on my receipt.I have a feeling this will hurt your business more than anything. A lot of people no longer carry cash & will be turned off by this.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place is terrible. Poor service, and the food was even worse. Fajitas,,brought the steak, no tortillas,, had to ask a waiter to get some for me. took near 5 minutes to bring the tortillas, food was getting cold by then. Asked twice for a spoon, never got one. There is a cheese sauce option on the menu, $1 dollar extra charge, these thieves charged me $5.50 for a shot glass full of something milky and white, it sure wasn't cheese. The steak was very bland, very tough, rice was old and clumped together, refried beans the same,, very tasteless and sub standard. I'll never go back. I didn't eat most of it,,couldn't,,too tough and stale. Total bill,,$24 for a $16 dollar Fajitas item,,, and I drank water. $5.50 for the white stuff in the small bowl,, $1.50 for some extra tortillas (only 3 VERY little ones come with the meal.
Not sure about all the added fees for dining in for 2 people. Prices have gone up but my meal and service was fantastic
Food was delicious; environment is clean, well decorated, and comfortable; service was quick and the staff are polite and swift.Will be coming back frequently!The Enchilada Mole was so good!
Been going here 1 to 2 times a week for 3 years. I even moved to Des Moines from Ankeny and make it a point to order from here when I work in Ankeny or on a date night. Food is always great, their hot salsa is my favorite, and service is fantastic. They go above and beyond for service. I tell all my friends and family this is my favorite restaurant. Go try it out :)
Great food and fast, friendly service. It has become a go-to for my family since we recently moved to Ankeny. Give it a shot, one of the rare fast and great service restaurants in todays environment.
