We had a decent experience when we went this time. The food wasn't as good as the first time we were there. It wasn't bad, just not as good. There was a 25 minute wait to get our food and only 1 other table. We will definitely go back because the peanut Thai Sticks are fabulous! But, the parmesan bites were not good. Do not get those. Ever.
Ah the proverbial child of the Cedar Rapids restaurant. Albeit in a different part of this city, with less nostalgia around. However, the recipes are exactly the same as the original. The original quickly became a favorite of ours, we often name it as one of our top three must eat in the Midwest. So when you have that high of an expectation, the nut better not fall far from the tree.And it doesn't.First the drinks, always a great selection and crafted to perfection.The appetizer, this one was the Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls, just like the first time. Eggscellent!Then on to the main dish; sure you can try a wrap, or something else on the menu. But when it comes to great pizza. Well park the bus, and sit down for a taste of something above the restaurant chains. The crust isn't overpowering, it carries the load of ingredients just as it should be. And the toppings are fresh. How can you tell? Trust me you can.This restaurant is as good as the original.
Great atmosphere, very unique and delicious pizza, and over 40 beers on tap! Definitely worth the visit.
I ordered pizza and pre paid online and got a confirmation for my order. When I arrived to get my pizzas the staff said they never received the order and so I told them I had my confirmation email and everything. They never received it cause they didn’t have the device turned on to receive the order. They did a good job of putting the order right away and cooking the pizza quickly once I was there but I asked if they were going to charge me the full amount for the pizza sense I had to wait at the store for it because they never placed it and was told there was nothing they could do sense I already paid. I understand that mistakes happen but was very frustrated that I had to stand there and wait while 8 months pregnant with my 3 year old daughter waiting in the car with my husband and staff didn’t not seem to care or compensate their mistake.
Fong's was pretty good. I had the Main Street Special pizza and I enjoyed it. The Totchos were also tasty. Three people I went with ordered the Crab Rangoon pizza -- while they all agreed that it wasn't bad, all three said they would have ordered something different if they did it again.
Both the garlic Parmesan knots and crab Rangoon pizza were delicious, although calling it crab Rangoon is a bit misleading since there was very little crab and a thin layer of cheese. It's more of a crunchy wonton pizza with sweet chili sauce. I was, however, pleasantly surprised with how big the servings were, so order small if you're ordering multiple things. My only complaint is the lack of COVID protective measures. No workers were wearing masks and the table next to ours didn't look like it got sanitized before bringing another customer there.
What a gem of an eatery. Unique and delicious pizza and appetizers with s very energetic and fun atmosphere. Service was outstanding and prompt with lots of laughs had by our party and the staff. Highly recommend taking the time to visit and enjoy something out of the ordinary.
The pizza was OK, but the service left a lot to be desired. I ordered take out and stood for 20 minutes past the time it was supposed to be done. They finally figured out that my pizza was sitting there waiting for in dining.. So they boxed it up, And as I was walking out I opened up the Box to find a lukewarm pizza. I said to the hostess this pizza is not very warm and she just shrugged her shoulders.Sorry, I'm a one and done.UPDATE: I received a response from Fongs Ankeny location. Apologized for my experience so I will show my appreciation by trying this business again. Their response shows me that the business cares about customers!!! So much appreciated!!
I love the cauliflower crust pizza with sausage but the past 3 pies I’ve received hasn’t had enough meat on it, in fact can’t find one piece on the last one. Not sure what happened to their quality but it has gone down hill. I’ve complained but it hasn’t helped. That is the only pizza I like so I guess I won’t go back.
The food was really great as was the atmosphere. The unique kinds of pizza here are a lot of fun as well as delicious. I would definitely go back. The service was really slow the night I went... maybe due to staffing shortages like everywhere else.
