Nice atmosphere. Server took drink and food orders timely. Food was served quick. Nice sized portions for food. I ordered enchiladas and chicken was tender, tasted good. Rice was a bit dry and caked together but when mixed in with beans and enchiladas was fine. Took a while to get tickets to pay but they were quite busy for a Sunday evening. All in all good food and overall experience.

Omg! The food is absolutely delicious !!!!!

Had a lunch at El Mocajete in Ankeny this past Friday, and it was like meals we've come to expect from here ... AWESOME. We arrived just as the noon rush was winding down, but the place was still pretty full. We were seated immediately, and within a minute, chips and two minds of salsa had arrived at the table. TAKE NOTE ... for an additional charge, you can have guacamole made fresh at your table. Our waiter arrived quickly, took our order, and before the basket of chips were gone, our meal had arrived. My wife had the Fiesta Burrito, and I had the Seafood Burrito (pictured.) Both were excellent. We've dined here many times, and have found the place clean, with the entire staff friendly. And yeah, even the restrooms were pretty clean, and if you read other reviews of mine, you know I consider this important, especially on a busy day when many people may be using the facilities.5 stars for El Molcajete !

Nice big restaurant. I ordered the Steak, Chicken and Shrimp Fajitas. The fajitas were really good and would order them again. Wife had a Blackberry and a Cadilac Margarita, which she really liked both.Cons: the tortilla chips are real thick, the place was extremely loud and our waitress wasn't very attentive.

We'll start off by saying the food was amazing, as well as their salsa is a must try. The staff was great helping us with the menu and explaining any questions we had. Fyi you won't want to leave without buying their salsa, trust me. It is one of the top Mexican restaurants in the area for sure.

We were in Ankeny and decided to try this place. We were disappointed in many ways.My reviews are based on 3 weights :#1-70% = taste#2-20% = presentation#3-10% = price#1- rice was dry and tasteless. Chicken chimichanga was OK but not the best I have tasted. Chips were not home made. Two salsas, hot and mild.#2- was ok#3- a little high for a lunch meal. No deals on margaritas.Crossed this place off our list.

Every time we have been to this restaurant, the waiters have been accommodating, and the food has been good. Reasons to go here instead of others. Two types of salsa, hot and mild, and it isn't watered down. Chips are usually fresh. Table side guacamole is always delicious. Not too salty. Also, the portion sizes are good, and your food always comes out hot. There is some presentation on the plate as well. Prices are fair. Sometimes, they are a little slow due to staffing, but that isn't much of an issue. Overall, great Mexican restaurant in Ankeny.

Another great Mexican restaurant in Ankeny - Their house margarita is great, and the food is fresh and tasty. This place has a great bar to sit at if you like to do that. The atmosphere is clean and bright, and the service was fast and courteous.

Great staff, clean place. Chips and salsa are great. The food is so salty you can't eat all of it. Might try again to see if it was just the cook over doing it tonight.
