GET RID OF THE PLASTIC DINNERWARE AND STYROFOAM PLATES!!! BULLCRAP
It should have been our first clue when we walked in at 6:30 on a Friday evening and the place was less than 1/2 capacity. The food was okay at best. The plates were thin foam and the forks and spoons were extremely low quality disposable plastic. I could see maybe spending $8/person due to the food taste and quality alone, then the super cheap and disposable dinnerware really made the prepaid price tag of approx $15/person really a poor value. The only reason I gave 2 stars was the variety of food was decent. The staff were not rude, but not exactly friendly either. From the kitchen, it sounded like the staff were jamming out to Mexican music pretty loudly. Not that the music was bad, just seemed out of place and a bit unprofessional. I persoannly do not see a reason to return to this establishment.
Much of the food was kept at temperatures far below safe, conducive to food borne illness. The Iowa Department of Inspections should look into this establishment. My family will not be returning here.
This restaurant was unfortunately underwhelming, starting with the Styrofoam plates & cups and plastic utensils we were given to eat off. Many of the dishes were fried and/or "comfort Ametican foods" (sweet & sour chicken, onion rings, chicken nuggets, pizza) with very little to offer in the way of typical Asian buffet dishes. What was offered lacked flavor or was soggy to mushy in texture. We paid around $20 for our party of two to eat, which I felt was everpricrd for my child and I. We'll likely not return sadly.
Fried rice, steamed rice, pot stickers, egg rolls, general Tso's chicken, chicken on a stick, hot-n-sour soup, and egg drop soup ... they've pretty much got it all. They've even got sushi, and fresh Chinese pastries. The deep fried chicken drumsticks are tougher than "wang leather" - but hey, they certainly try! And, they are friendly ... completely different from the RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL owners of the Jade Garden on Ankeny Blvd.!!! Stay away from that place!!!
I went in for lunch and paid first. Went to get food and buffet was not kept hot or even warm. Ask for a refund and got it. After looking at other reviews, the issue has not been fixed.
My husband and I have been here a few times and had no issues; however, we had dinner last night and they not only went to all Styrofoam cups, plates and plastic forks, but the food seemed to lack taste, not as much of a selection unless you wanted sushi. The Styrofoam plates were so flimsy one customers plate emptied all over the buffet.
Spent almost 50 dollars for the 4 of us and the food was horrible!! Nothing was fresh! Food was cold! Never again will I eat there! Save time and money and just go to panda express across the street.
Unfortunately I have to agree with the other recent reviews. 1/5/[email protected] Soggy and old. Most choices were blan tasting and some were cold. The selection was my biggest disappointment. Not much to choose from. The steamed dumplings were the best item in my opinion and they even lacked the usual Chinese buffet taste. I would assume that most Asian buffets get their stuff from the same food service provider. Next time I am in the area visiting my daughter we will definitely choose a better place.
I've noticed other reviewers had similar experiences. Went in yesterday around 5:30 1/15/2022. Food was pretty soggy and tasted very old. Selection was poor. Food tasted as if had been reused and microwaved multiple times as well as tasting very plain. Will not go again until things change. This was my first experience if this buffet.
