We stopped on a Sunday at lunch time. Restaurant was not full at all. We ordered chicken wings to start. It took almost 25 min to get the first order. They were cold and tough. Server was no where to be found so my husband took them up to the bar to say something. They ended up bringing us another oder. It was also cold, but we were starving so ate part of them. Toughest chicken wings we have ever had. Another 25 min later our Irish Nachos came to the table. Everyyhing was cold, the fries were cold, the cheese sauce was cold, the taco meat was very cold. The Thunderhead Balls were over done. So disappointed. We love trying new places out, this one was not a great experience and probably will not risk trying it again. This was hands down the coldest hot meal we have ever had. They did take 15.00 off our 45.00 bill, but definitely didn't make up for wait or food.
Service was a bit slower than I expected. Food was great, staff was friendly. Just was a slow wait on getting sat and getting our food. Otherwise perfect place to eat
We have been going here for the last 12 months or so and have seen a steady decline in the quality of service and food with service being the bigger issue. This last visit on the 27th we ended up getting our own menus from up by the bar at that point the waiter stopped and ask if we needed drinks and said he didn't see us ( he only walked past us twice and we were setting one both away from there work station). Then our order for drinks was not filled and had to ask for drinks again. We wont be back marked it off the list of places to eat.
Much better places out there that value their customers. Stood there for 10 minutes for my order pickup with many passing workers - nothing not even a hello. Back room door opened 3 workers sitting on buckets. Finally got order that took twice as long as told and it’s wrong. If you’re craving chicken coop that bad drive clear over to Urbandale and you’ll get better service. Never again.
First off our order was wrong again food cold and they forgot the ranch dressing, then the food was not cooked and the salad was rotten and my club sandwich had rotten vegetables in it. This is not the first time I tried to give them another chance and they failed they will be out of business at this rate
Very easygoing, and for a seat-yourself place the service was really pretty prompt. Food was good and hot. Everything I'd hope to get when I go to a sports b&g.
The service was kinda slow. We had 3 servers within a 3 hour time frame. First server was good checked on us regularly. Second server I had to find just to get water. Third server was also good even though we only had her for like the last 15 minutes we where there. The live music was awesome.
Friends of mine stopped by their picked up an order 1st time food poisoning Under Thunderhead. 2nd time chicken was not done. Through itaway.Good Luck. Chicken coop was the most successful name. Same owner...
When asked if eating at the Chicken coop would be okay, I was like absolutely not, I am not eating at a place called the chicken coop. After finding out they don't serve fried chicken, I was absolutely baffled. Anyway I ate there and it met my expectations. Service was acceptable, seating was acceptable, the food was pretty solid. I order the sausage grinder which was actually pretty solid for a sausage grinder. A bit too much cheese, but I'm sure some people would be into that. There could easily have been half the meat and cheese in the sandwich and I would have been satisfied. The fries were alright, kinda tasted like onion rings. (Not a negative btw) Fries were not especially crispy/fresh tasting but whatever, I give them a passing grade.When the restaurant was described to me as good, not great, that was absolutely spot on. Clean facility, plenty of parking, weird location, but whatever.I'd give it like a 7/10, we'll round that to 4 stars.
Probably wouldn’t recommend this place to any friends or family. Place was decently busy for a Monday night. Only two visible waitresses for the entire place. This is a seat yourself restaurant. We received no service. No drinks, no menus. People that came in after us got helped before us. This place seemed short staffed and pretty dysfunctional. Pretty sad as this was our first and probably only experience at this place!
