Best authentic Chinese ever. The dry pot is absolutely incredible - so much flavor and cooked to perfection. You get so much food too!It’s a tradition to get Taste Place every time we pass through or stop in Ames.
Just called in and ordered Taste Place and they told me that they could make the order but didn’t have any rice. I asked if they would have it later and they said “nah”. Then I asked if they would take some money off since they didn’t have it and I would have to buy it somewhere else then all they said was “nah” again. Then I asked if they had any substitute and all they said was like we have noodles and potstickers and such but I have to pay extra.I love their food but pretty disappointed with the customer service there. I don’t believe this is the right way to respond your customer when you could only fulfill a partial order and not finding a way to make it better.
I went here for the first time and I got potstickers, crab Rangoon, and egg rolls and they were all great! Only took fifteen minutes for my order to be ready.

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. My food literally smelt and tasted like tobacco. My husbands smelt and tasted like floor cleaner. Honestly I don't know why it was even recommended. Never going there again.
Great chef, tasty food, and good service. Everything is perfect here! So far, I have never got any dishes that disappointed me! Really love the fried chicken in the basket, hot chili oil beef, lamb hotpot, and Huangmen mushroom!
This place serves great Chinese food. I don't have any complaint with the taste.However, their prices aren't competent. There are other places that serve similar food at a cheaper price.
This place is nothing compare to the old owner. The way they operate is so bad. We came in at 5:30pm and is not even that busy and they make us wait until 6:22pm and never even come and said a single word. Others table come after us and they were serve first which is disturbing. If you like to wait for hours for your food then good luck! The food is not that great either. They only have the same name as the old tasteplace but the food is nothing the same.
This was my first time having hot pot and it was an amazing experience. The food was fresh and the broths were flavorful. The spicy one has quite a kick! Also, the staff was very attentive and polite.
