New to Ames, however I made it a goal to try as many Mexican spots as possible when I lived in Minneapolis. Although not an epicenter of Mexican cuisine, there were some incredibly good spots, and Rico's would rank among them. The tacos and burritos are both phenomenal, the salsa is excellent (not overly spicy or vinegary), and the specials are extremely well executed (strawberry or pineapple tamales anyone?). Not to mention the service is very friendly and pretty quick. Would highly recommend Rico's to anyone.
Amazing! We eat here at least once a month and I always order the tacos al pastor. The burritos are huge and really good too, but I just can't pass up the tacos.

Absolute best taco truck on the area hands down. I'm in love with the bean & cheese tamales. They have the perfect amount of jalapeño. Topped with some red sauce you can't go wrong. Plus everyone who works there is super friendly. I highly recommend Rico's Tacos to everyone!?
I was in search of finding authentic restaurants in ames and hands down the best tacos I can find. Everything is to delicious and fresh. Would eat here everyday if I wasn’t a broke student.

i've had covid and lost smell and taste. everything in Ames tastes bad except Rico's tacos. their cabeza tacos remind me of what flavor was before i lost my senses. highly recommend. my favorite place to get lunch for work
