How does this place survive. It has been terrible for so many years I can’t even remember the last positive experience we had there. The last few times we have tried to purchase food here they haven’t even been able to make a burrito. One time they were out of rice, then today their press doesn’t work so no tortillas. Beyond that, the place is dirty in the kitchen and the seating area. I’m not exaggerating when I say we have tried to eat here several times in the past few years but they can’t even maintain the essential ingredients to make a burrito. I don’t want your apologies here, either pay workers/management enough to make this place work or close the doors. It’s pathetic.

Love Pancheros. Unfortunately, I ordered on line, paid for my order, went to pick it up and they were closed. I called, no answer. I have reached out a couple of times and no answer. At this point I will just take my money back and they can keep the burrito! :)

Ordered a chicken quesadilla and only had cheese, no chicken. Told the staff and showed them..they insisted it had chicken. My daughter ate just a cheese quesadilla, no chicken.

The rest of the staff is nice, the new manager is a real b**** to her staff and customers. She couldn’t find my order so I pulled up my confirmation to help and she started raising her voice at me. It took another worker to find my order and then she blamed the workers for not being able to find it. Unprofessional. Get a new manager that doesn’t give attitude to her workers and customers

To put it gently, Pancheros as a franchise might be better off if this location closed. To put it less gently, the kindest thing I have to say about this location is that their food has never made me physically ill. This location has been consistently bad for years. The restaurant is frequently untidy; tables left uncleaned, overflowing trash, dirty floors. The prep area and grills are frequently dirty, with loose ingredients everywhere and shards of tortilla and ingredient cross-contamination in the pans. I could understand that during a rush, but when you're the only customer in the restaurant and 2 or 3 employees are just standing around and talking, that level of uncleanliness is less easy to rationalize.Part of Pancheros' whole thing is mixing the ingredients, but you're very lucky if they do that here. If you order delivery, prepare for at least one ingredient to be left out. Service is invariably slow, even when there are a half dozen people behind the counter loudly talking to each other and you're the only customer there the entire time. I've seen employees talking on their phones while serving customers. And the workers pretty much just ignore you. I've unhappily worked service jobs before, so I don't want to harp on this part too much, but it'd be nice if the workers could at least say a hello or look at you or acknowledge your presence or communicate with you in any way.And on top of that, the food here just tastes bad. I know is not a problem inherent to the chain because other locations are perfectly fine. No other location I've been to has had their standards this low. Having grown up where the chain was founded and genuinely loving their food, I've been to a lot of locations, and the state of the Ames Panch is really, really sad compared to what I know the chain is capable of.So, to summarize, food tastes bad, cleanliness is bad, service is bad. I'm going to stop eating here to preserve what little love for the chain's food I have left, and advise anyone reading this to do the same.

If I could give a 0/5 I would, they hardly ever have half the things to put on your burrito and today I waited over an hour for my order I placed to go. It’s always dirty and I’ve just never had a good experience my past three years living in Ames. It’s the only pancheros I’ve ever had problems with.

Terrible service and super dirty.

Sweet jesus this place was horrible. My food was dropped on the ground by an employee and then she told me that she didn't notice it and left it afterwards. She then gave drinks and chips to her friend for free and even took my chips out of my meal to give to her friend. The place was extremely dirty had a very long wait, not because it was busy, but because only two employees were preparing the food and the rest were chatting around the register. The business front was atrocious, I have no idea when it was cleaned last, but it was in dire need of a cleaning. I could only count maybe 2 or 3 decent employees there, and 3 others I don't ever want to see touch my food again.

This is the worst Pancheros I have ever visited. Not only were the tables dirty, but it took 10 mins go even order. And that was with only 3 people in front of me. When I do finally get to order not only are they out of the meats I want but they can't even comprehend what I mean by cook the tortilla a bit longer. This place just gives an off putting feeling from the moment I walked in the doors. I will not be coming back and will be going to Chipotle from now on.
