Never disappointed! The beef and salmon quality is comparable with high-end restaurants.Rolls are absolutely delicious, nicely presented, and fresh-tasting.Service could be somewhat improved but the personnel’s friendliness makes up for it, I always enjoy chitchatting with them!

I ordered delivery, I got the RAMEN and it had ZERO FLAVOR it looked very pretty but just no taste. When I say that to I mean ABSOLUTELY NONE it tasted like water with a boiled egg in it. It was honestly so disappointing. Especially with how good it looked. However I’ll have to try their other foods because it seems like the other reviews are based on other menu items.

Went to try out this ramen place because I was excited to try it, we were told it was busy but we could find a place to be seated and they would get to us in turn, well sure enough as people left and others were sat down and served we watched 6 tables come in after us and get served before us before we left. We were never given a menu or approached by a server except for when we had first approached the door. I'd love to try the food but the service just does not pay attention.

Super amazing Bento boxes and ramen.

This place was awesome. Very great customer service. Food was amazing. That ramen was tasty, sushi was so delicious. Can't wait to go back here again.

Pleasant service with very cozy & comfortable atmosphere. Great choice of lofi music made it that much better, as well as the excellent quality of food and alcohol. Best sushi and sashimi I've had in a very long time, i recommend Ichiban over Fuji Steakhouse. Fuji is fine, but Ichiban blew them out of the water with an authentic & high quality experience. I very much recommend the miso soup! Absolutely going here next time I eat in Ames.

With a commanding spot in the middle of Welch Ave, Ichiban offers a reasonable selection of Japanese eats, notably sushi and ramen, particularly this far inland. The atmosphere is classy yet unpretentious, welcoming to both date nights and casual dinners with friends. The food is excellent no matter what you choose, with the ramen being hearty and incredibly flavorful and the specialty rolls being carefully crafted. For those in the Ames area seeking well priced Japanese fare, Ichiban will quickly become a go to spot.

The eel in the unagi-don was very good, but they put an extraordinarily over the top amount of rice to go with the thin eel strips, kind of layering the eel over the rice mountain to make the eel look bigger. Again, tasted pretty good - just wished I could have a bit more of the actual eel and less of the rice. The server I had seemed really nice though, and I would imagine the sushi wouldn't have that problem.

What a great addition to Welch! I had the steak bento box today which was fantastic. As a steak and rice lover, I was surprised that the salad was one of my favorite parts of the box! The manager/owner always show us great hospitality when we come in for lunch. Thanks for the great service and keep it up.

Nice surprise in the middle of the Midwest. Appears to be a family owned restaurant, good variety of tasty Japanese cuisine. Seared teriyaki salmon, sushi, warm Ramen soups, and others with good service at moderate prices.Worth a trip when treating your student and wanting something different from pizza, burgers, mac and cheese (all fine comfort foods).
