We went with my husband and a friend for his bday. Their order was wrong and their charged us for hot sauce that was awful. First time I get charged for hot sauce in a Mexican restaurant. The server was really nice but unfortunately not good service there.
This was a great choice on my trip to Ames. We wanted to chill and have some dinner, but we also wanted to watch the NCAA BBall games and have some chips and salsa and queso. They have a lot of TV’s. 65”+. Great viewing. The chips are fantastic. The salsa is good. Very mild, which I like. The queso was hot, and a little too runny. The service was incredibly fast. Scary fast really. I doubt this will be everyone’s experience, but it was ours that night. Our food came so fast, we hadn’t even finished our first bowl of chips. The portions are massive. It’s really a lot to eat. And delicious. If I’m in Ames again, I’d definitely eat here again. And I’d know to bring a bigger appetite.
The quesadillas I had here were bomb - maybe a little bit lacking in cheese but nothing serious. What lowered it a bit was everything else seemed a bit below average in quality. The guac, sour cream, lettuce, and the starter chips seemed kind of stale or off. But can't be too critical about that - this place nails what really matters, the core food.
Holy cow the chimichangas were the bomb!! Just the right amount of rice and beans for the sides, they were topped with just the right amount of guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, fresh Roma tomatoes, and a bit of shredded cheese not to mention drenched in queso. I was told to check it out by a coworker and he was 100% on fire with this place as a recommendation. 10/10 let's go!!
The atmosphere is fun, the service is fantastic and the food is good. Next time I'll get the Burrito Grande, I think that's one of their best items.
The best place to get a great quick lunch in town! Always great service and awesome food!

We love Mexican food and have been to Mexico several times. I also cook most items at home that are found on a Mexican restaurant's menu. We went to the Dayton restaurant and had chips (they were stale and very bland) and salsa which was average. I had a margarita and it was all mix. One of the worst one's I've ever had. Ordered guacamole and queso and the guacamole was runny and had no flavor. The queso waa the same. Ordered steak street tacos, carne asada, and daughter had a combo plate. The order took 5 minutes to make which means everything is precooked in the morning. My carne asada was so greasy I couldn't eat it. The steak at the bottom was covered with greasy onions and red and green peppers that were mush. Nothing is fresh here. Service was great. Food was gross. I took home most of my meal and placed it into the garbage. Go to Ankney or Urbandale for fresh Mexican food.
Try pork fajitas. It's awesome. It has a welcoming atmosphere for weekend outings.Don't forget to bring ID if you are visiting on your birthday.
Honestly one of the best places ive been too. Every second was fantastic. We got to a table very quickly even when they where busy. Our server Adonis was on top of everything, my drink was never empty and was always there when we needed. The food was fantastic and came to our table really quickly. The atmosphere was perfect every table had a smile and the whole place was very clean. I wish i could give more than 5 stars and i hope Adonis gets a well earned raise and praise. 11/10
