Gelsosomo's (Valparaiso) got a pizza order completely wrong which was correctly listed on the receipt and took one hour and fifteen minutes to deliver. They also failed to give a credit for a $1.50 vendor coupon. Called to complain and was only offered a replacement pizza or a credit for the pizza. They refused to address that they did not honor their vendor coupon. We have been using the Valpo Gelsosomo's for decades however, they have chosen to lose a regular customer over a $1.50 coupon on a $50 dollar order with a $10 dollar tip. Sorry but at today's prices, I expect that if they offer a coupon then they (owner and manager refused) should honor it and correct the order instead of arguing with the customer. They have lost a valued customer!
Gelsosomo's was a fairly good pizza place for my taste. I am a NY style pizza fan and this is more a midwest style, which is fine but not my first choice type of pie. Fresh ingredients served hot with decent service. I was, however, impressed with their gluten free crust. Well worth a try even for those not needing gluten free.The beer selections are good with choices of draft, bottled domestic, imports and crafts.
We have been out of the area for some time, but were already familiar with their pizza, which we liked. Recently returning to the area, we dined-in at the Valpo location, for the first time. The waitress was initially very friendly. Unfortunately, we waited for about 40 to 45 minutes for the pizza. Everyone that we could see in our section had received their pizza before we did, even people who had been seated twenty plus minutes after we sat down. When the waitress did bring the pizza, she remarked about the pizza dish being hot. We found that the pizza was lukewarm at best and the pizza pan was also barely warm. There was no apologies for the wait and the initial friendliness was gone. When paying for the pizza at the counter which came to $52+ with two Pepsi's and an appetizer, I was asked about how was everything. I cited that the pizza was cold. The cashier seemed surprised, did not know what to say and proceeded with my payment. Conclusion: we were severely disappointed with the service, the apparent unnecessary wait, the lack of an oven-hot pizza ordered within the restaurant and the lack of any conciliatory customer service...at the very least a heartfelt apology. We have enjoyed Gelsosomo's pizza in the past, but do not know if we will be back.
The stuffed pizza wasn't really stuffed. The sauce was a really think paste. The cheese wasn't the best of quality either especially for the price. We also had a thin crust. We got it home and it was really over cooked...almost burnt.
Waitress was super friendly and food was pretty decent but there were a few minor issues. The tomatoes in the salad were super soft, the burger had no toppings and the lasagna had a ridiculous amount of sauce. Overall, everything was still good and price wasn't overly expensive.
We were there for 1yr bday party. Our server was very attentive and nice. The room was a nice size, spacious. They let you decorate and bring in your own cake. Very nice place.
Great pizza like no other pizza places make. Always very happy eating here. Chesterton location is my favorite. Good job to all who makes the pizzas.
Still my favorite pizza place in Valpo, as it has been for decades. Another great carryout experience with them recently. Keep it up, Gelsosomo's!*I will add that they sometimes have long wait times (cuz everyone else loves them too!), but they are upfront with you about it, and it's been many years since I've had an order not ready at the stated time.
Slightly innovative take on the classic pizza restaurant. Offering beer and wine and grenadine is a plus. I had the folded pizza, which was supposed to be modeled after the calzoni, but it was better! Service was also premium. You will have leftovers.
The pizza was delicious, waitress was friendly and very accomidating. We had a party of 16, I called ahead and they were all set up when we got there.? ?
