The food at Albano's is by far the best food my wife and I have ever had in Valparaiso. We live one block from downtown and frequent all the restaurants and Albano's is a true Chicago caliber restaurant. Chef Nick, one of the owners, was a wonderful guy, he spent a lot of time with us and he was so cordial. We went on an early Friday afternoon and it was quiet and laid back. Chef Nick is the best!!
The bloody Mary's were average to good. The lasagna was poor to mediocre. Our four top table each received our lunch plate 3 to 5 minutes apart, it's impolite to eat when others don't even have food in front of them.
I'm so glad we stumbled upon Albano's while driving through Valparaiso on a road trip. Food was fresh and delicious and made from high quality ingredients.
I liked the atmosphere. Some of the food was good like the meatballs. The pasta however I found the pasta dough was just too thick and not cooked enough which made it too hard. But for a restaurant only open a few days a week. Overall ok.
Albano’s is located in Elements wine Bar now. We were surprised to find this out after making a reservation. We wish it could have stayed open in its original location where the food was really very good. We decided that the ambiance wasn’t really for us on what we thought would be a quiet evening out. I heard from other reviewers that the food was still very good.
Though the bar setting and, to be blunt, the strange arrangement of the mixed establishment that they now operate under was a bit of a disappointment from a dinning experience (just to be able enjoy a quiet meal), the food was amazing! My wife and I have been on an adventure over the last few months of challenging ourselves to try venues and foods we've never had before each week on our "Date Night" and Albano's Pasta Shop did not disappoint. Flavor blending and textures were unique and explosive, a whole lot of YUM! Needless to say we will be back, just that next time the order will be to go.
The owner is an amazing, dedicated person to his craft. He went out of his way to welcome me as a first time visitor. I am looking forward to returning to their new location and to enjoying everything this establishment has to offer. I need my Italian fix after 12 years in Italy. Nick I am under your guidance for a great experience.
The restaurant is no longer at 22 Washington St., Valparaiso, IN. We attempted to go there today to find the facility empty.
Our family has enjoyed the fresh homemade foods on several occasions, absolutely wonderful!! You will have a difficult time finishing your plate, that’s ok another tasty treat for later. Be sure to leave room for cheese cake, a true Tastebud delight! Our Family favorite in Valpo!
It's not often your greeted at a restaurant with a smile. Entering the establishment, I was approached by a ginger-haired young lady. Her radiant smile made me feel like royalty. Sorry I just had to get that out there. The food was good, but the place was kind of dark. I saw more than one person take out their phones for light to read the menu.
