I grew up in South Bend and recently moved back, saddened to learn there wasn't really a dairy-free ice cream option in South Bend still.That is, until I heard about Whistle Stop! I tried their toasted coconut, and absolutely loved it.Super glad there's a non-dairy ice cream shop in town – and it's so fun to grab an ice cream cone and take a walk through Howard Park.
This is by far the best ice cream and cone stop in south bend! Has GF cones and Dairy free ice cream options too! All homemade and so delicious. ?
Stopped by the new place yesterday. All of the workers were friendly, the ice cream was great. I had the cookie dough and it wasn't tiny little pellets of cookie dough, it was nice good globs of cookie dough. Even ordered a small cup of whipped cream which was devoured happily by my pup. It will definitely be a regular stop on our walks this summer.
They make their own ice cream and do a great job of it. Well worth the trip for some awesome ice cream.

Mishawaka and Granger have a few ice cream options but there’s not many options in Downtown South Bend. Whistle Stop was very very good. We will be back soon for sure!There’s a great space to eat outside as well. There’s a patio, tables and chairs, and it’s right on the East Race. Two thumbs up.
I tried their bourbon butter pecan hard serve and was frankly blown away, it’s better than anything at The Chief ice cream (which is another great local option) and the best waffle cone I’ve had in years!

Whistle Stop Ice Cream is THE best ice cream in DTSB, hands down. Their ice cream is made daily from scratch using premium locally-sourced ingredients, and I am completely addicted! If haven't tried their cold brew milkshake yet, you're missing out!
