Excellent coffee and food. Terrible music: thumping hard rock played at a very loud volume, every time I go. Everyone there is trying to work on their laptops or have a conversation. And I've heard others complain. It's not at all the ambience of a place that should be a quiet spot for coffee and work downtown.
Food was yummy, coffee was delicious and presentation was great! 10/10 will return again!
While doing a book tour in the area I stayed at a hotel close to this coffee shop and it was so great I went there 3 out of the 4 mornings I was here.The coffee and breakfasts were great, nice atmosphere great service.My uncle was with me each time and we were able to sit for hours each morning to plan our days while enjoying their great coffee cup after cup - I really love this place and wish I had a coffee shop life this where I live. I will go back anytime I'm staying in downtown south bend.
My sister was in town from Michigan and this cafe was just a hop, skip and a jump down the street from her hotel so we went there for breakfast. I had a ham and egg scramble and a large Mexican hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was delicious and so was the scramble.When I read the menu, it said the scramble used two eggs. I thought it would be skimpy but it was quite the opposite and very filling.It came with toast a little bit of fruit and a cute little jar of jam for the toast.The ladies behind the counter were super friendly and professional. I would definitely revisit the next time I'm downtown.
Amazing coffee and food! Awesome service and such a cool vibe inside!!! Highly recommend! The maple bacon scone is to die for!!
I enjoyed the smell of my decaf macchiato (italian style, oat milk) while restraining myself from ordering their freshly made cannoli.
I love this place! Avocado toast and bagels are great. Good cold brew too. I've always had great service.

Appears others are having a different experience. Java Cafe looks the part, etc. and downtown South Bend needs a good coffee shop but this isn't the place. Consistently bad service and routinely bad brewed coffee, usually served *cold.* Spare yourself the hassle and the classic rock soundtrack.
Java Cafe is my favorite place to go, especially when I need to catch a break away from campus! The service, employees, atmosphere, and the coffee and food are all exceptional! Highly recommend!
